No jump for over 2 years AFF7 for D holders

Recommended Posts

I can see their point. I'm sure you were just fine;) I watched a video of a guy with a few years off earlier this year. He had like 10 years in sport previous. It was funny watching him bounce off the powerlines on final (funny as in he didn't get hurt). It's in all our best interest to make sure returning folks can still do it. Welcome back!!!!

Sorry, DZOs have discretion over who jumps at their DZ. We had a guy show up at our DZ who had a D license but no log book, had only made one jump recently at another DZ but that's it for about two years. He also had only ever jumped sporatically. We told him he had to make a check-out dive. He told the S&TA something like that it was just "his opinion". Sorry, that's the opinion that counts.

Anyone who's been out that long should seriously address how they're re-entering the sport.

From what I remember when I got my D license the Sims said, no sorry suggested a hop and pop to get current thats it. Time in the sport sometimes overides the guy who has a ton of jumps in a short period of time. Its nothing new, skydiving is easier than getting back on a bike . Our dz owner hasn't jumped in 7 years and he jumped back to win a bet by landing on a dime after 7 years but in the sport since the 60s.

I had a dropzone tell me that if I didn't jump over 6 months I had to pay $70 coach jump, over 2 years $110 for AFF jump. So someone could hold my hand thats been in the sport for 14 years. Guess what I jumped yesterday.

As far as I know the hop n pop is still a valid reccurency method.

But just because it worked for you, does not mean it works for everyone. I have seen some people come back and do down right stupid things. And it is your life, and the DZO's right/duty to make sure people are safe...And it is his living at stake. So he should be allowed to make that call.

And I can remember when it said you had to make 12 jumps to renew your D license.

And time away from the sport sometimes overrides both.

You can do that when you own the drop zone. But that still doesn't make it smart.

After reading some of your posts maybe they just didn't want the liability.:P

Not necessarily correct………I believe you can jump non-TSOed gear from an aircraft with an FAA waiver.

I raley jumped and flew with anyone who was not been drinking and or stoned.

You should try filling in some of you profile.:S

Hey Sparky ... you don't s'pose this is an old Ghoulidge jumper do you? I recall a five-way after 8 years once upon a time.

Yea, but like I said, if you own the DZ you can do shit like that. And if you had gone in we would have buried you where you landed and given you flight jacket to Nick. ;)You want to borrow my jump suit again?:P

Hell, I doubt he has been around long enough to know what Ghoulidge was.:)

Quote from manifester ..."But Zing, are you really current?"

Manifest, we don't need no stinking manifest. 5 in 5 out, exit, exit exit.B|

But come to think of it, it was not a DZ. It was a test range and you were taking a test. And we won't even talk rigs.:)
How long was it for Ed?

What this IS about is that it is illegal to jump from an aircraft in the US without TSOed gear

Not necessarily correct. I wish Avery would chime in here and tell us about the above-mentioned 1997 WFFC low-altitude balloon jumps. I believe you can jump non-TSOed gear from an aircraft with an FAA waiver.

As much as everyone wants to separate BASE Jumpers and Skydivers, we must keep in mind that we are all parachutists....

10/2/2025: 100+ person Yosemite train jump if still illegal. I'll pay fines.

I stand corrected, I guess you didn't say this. You just posted it to look like you said it.

But I believe you did say this for which your Mother would be proud.
