jacketsdb23 49 #1 September 1, 2006 So just a thought that popped in my head while I'm attempting to work today. My...uh...prior to second night jump...will be tonight. I'm thinking that i'm going to unpack my rig and repack it. Not that I should pack any different for a night jump, I just know when I packed it last weekend that I was a bit rushed. It would probably be fine, and I wouldn't repack for a normal day jump, but looking for a canopy with a flashlight would suck. I wasn't anticipating a night jump when I packed it. So, what would you do? Just thought i'd pass the time! Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy. Brains 2 #2 September 1, 2006 Personally i have found tht the more time and effort i put into a pack job, the worse it opens. I am not saying that i get the best openings by just throwing it in the bag rather than just a normal pack, nothing special. I would probably jump it if i packed it. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
billvon 3,085 #3 September 1, 2006 >So, what would you do? Not repack it. I haven't packed a mal in around 3000 jumps, and the pack jobs I do quickly tend to open better anyway.

I with you on this . . . the ones that I have meticulously tried to pack neatly for softer openings have usually been less comfy than the usual 5 to 7 minute pack job. This is one of life's mysteries . . . hmmmmmm . . .You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. MarkM 0 #5 September 1, 2006 Not repack it. But I also fly cheap mains and don't worry much about losing them.
Reginald 0 #6 September 1, 2006 If you are not comfortable jumping the pack job then redo it. Your FIRST night jump will be a very different experience than your prior jumps, you already have plenty of new things to worry about on this jump why add a questionable pack job on top of it?"We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
towerrat 0 #7 September 1, 2006 anything you need to do to make yourself a little more comfortable is just fine. More than likely you will probably be fine with the pack job you have, but if it makes you nervous then what the hell, repack it. I'm not a huge "vibes" kind of guy, but when I do get the heeby-jeebies I stop what I'm doing and do something else. Also, don't let the night jumps terrify you. You will probably find that you can see better than you imagine. Just don't bounce off of your shadowPlay stupid games, win stupid prizes!
ebusto 0 #8 September 1, 2006 Stop being a pussy, and just jump it! I wish I could make it out to Byron tonight in time for the night jumps.
rocketdog 0 #9 September 1, 2006 i voted "YES" -- repack it. it's worth repacking it to save you all the worry, possibly save your life, and/or save you the $ if you were to cutaway. an extra 15 min. on the ground can save you ________ during the skydive! have an awesome night jump! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
CSpenceFLY 1 #10 September 1, 2006 But what if the one that is in there now is the good one and the one that he packs is the bad one? Just more food for thought or crap to think about depending how you look at it. .
mpreil 2 #11 September 1, 2006 If you're nervous about the night jump - which you should be, I've seen you skydive You only do your first night jump once. Enjoy the hell out of it.
slug 1 #12 September 1, 2006 Why repack it only once? It's still about 5 hr's untill sundown. Shut up and start repackingLike 5 times at the DZ while everyone is watching. That would be some shit. BTW get someone to take pics of the peeps watching you repacking and repacking and... get the picture R.I.P.

JohnMitchell 16 #16 September 2, 2006 If it makes you feel better, sure, but I wouldn't. Last time I heard some one say "I better pack really well. This is for a night jump" they had a cut away. I crap you negative.
Beer 0 #17 September 2, 2006 QuoteBut what if the one that is in there now is the good one and the one that he packs is the bad one? What an ass! If you do repack it make sure to give it a real long snivle to really scare the crap out of you. Learn to be happy. You can't be there for anybody else in life if you can't learn to be there for yourself.
recovercrachead 0 #18 September 2, 2006 Make sure you bring extra glow sticks so you can drop them and scary the crap out of people. "OOOOMY GOD SOME ONE IS GOING IN"Track high, Pull LOW!!!

DeepThought 0 #20 September 2, 2006 If you get vibes to repack, do it, it cant do you any harm. I've got a mate that got those vibes.pulled out his canopoy, and found a knot unfer the slider. There is a very high chnace that it would have been a mal, quite spooky. But having said that, dont get over paranoid about your pack jobs. As it as already been said, some of the most rushed have been the best. On your 1st (mmm beer...) night jump you are bound to be nervous. If repacking helps calm your nerves, making you more relaxed, it has to be a good thing. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it. Hi Sparky Wasn't there some kind of joke at a boogie maybe the WFFC where some folks pulled a similar nasty joke with a dummy or something? Lots of time wasted by a bunch of folks looking for the dummy that was pitched from the plane. Not sure what happened to the dumb shit that threw the dummy out. R.I.P. recovercrachead 0 #23 September 3, 2006 My camp site was at the end of the corn where it all went down at the wff97. The problem is that people dont listen. We had about ten of us watching the sunset jumps. It looked a little strange at 2000 feet but under 1000 you couls tell it was a stuff animal. the guy landed got his stuff animal and walked away. Then the idiots came we told them over and over what happen. Know body listen to us we watched the heli waste all that gas. It was herd mentality. It took a couple of stupied people and everyone followed . We had a blast drinking and watching half the dropzone destroy a farmers corn ALL NIGHT LONG. People were so serious they wanted to fight us." what happen if it was your friend" How could you be so mean" No one every said skydivers were smart.Track high, Pull LOW!!!
