Tracking off line-of-flight ...

So from a tracking thread , what do you do?

If on a 4-way jump, does it look like the attached? (I'm assuming it should, I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm wrong!)

2-way - I track off line-of-jump
in "didn't get in" or "lost" case - off the line
3-way or more - track from each other

Having a different rule for 2-ways than everything else is, IMO, NOT a good idea.

Tracking off line of flight for wingsuit dives, and tracking dives. sure, makes sense

In a group, i get away from those on my group, line of flight has nothing to do with it. point out from center and go. 2 way or bigger

You'd be better off for 4way or any-way, visiting kallend's site and learning about spotting, wind drift, and separation judgement (and the whole DZ too) than trying to get you and 3 others to recall LOF at breakoff and pretend you're 45 degrees from the line.

Relying on tracking direction for seperation between groups is a bad idea IMO.

It seems the only thing you have done is split it tnto two two-ways with an invisible line that doesnt mean a thing.What ever happened to a 180 to the right track like hell ,look wave and pull. It works on almost any formation except compressed accoprdians etc, where you should have planned it on your dirt dive. I know of only one person that said" Dont ever go on the first load ,if you have to track for the DZ no matter what". He was an AFFIE how could he have the nerve at his ratings. The way I said will always get you horizontal seperation , add vertical and no one is close. Hope this helps

Track away from the group. Once under canopy if you find youself flying down jump run turn away from it...alway keeping your head on a swivel for other canopies.

On RW jumps, track away from the center to get best clearance from other people on your jump. Under no circumstances should you intentionally reduce that distance for other reasons, like thinking about line of flight. If you are concerned about clearance from the next group - leave more time between groups.

Is it so complicated to have a different rule for 2 way? Exit separation should allow you to track away from your buddy along the flight line, but why not take the advantage you have and go 90 degrees?

Yes 4-way brings to mind 4-way RW, but I almost exclusively Freefly smaller than 4-way, with the occasional zoo jump. I've always had a pretty good feel for line of flight and stay away from it like the bad place it seems to be, also staying away from my mates of course.

I don't have control of the exit separation of the group out after me. The only time I've had a problem with that was a couple jumps at Eloy.
