matthewcline 0 #1 September 22, 2006 OK, so your local C-182 DZ signs up with Skyride. You know and don't like Skyride. There are other C-182 DZ openning and not much further away. Do you stay with the DZ or leave to find a new one? Do you make the same decision if your staff or not? Or do you plead with him and try to get him to stop the contract? DrewEckhardt 0 #2 September 22, 2006 QuoteOK, so your local DZ signs up with Skyride. You know and don't like Skyride. Do you stay with the DZ or leave to find a new one? Stay. I jump for my own enjoyment. That means I want 1. People to jump with. 2. Enough turbine aircraft to handle the load. I don't want to wait 2 hours to get to altitude after everybody has packed and dirt dived. 3. Geographic proximity. I don't want to spend 4 hours of my day going to and from the DZ, unless total transit time is less than I'd have spent waiting at another DZ.
Tink1717 2 #3 September 22, 2006 IF some conditon at your home DZ render it unsuitable, then you must vote with your feet. I would never do business, work or fun jump, with a DZ that signs on to skyride. They are unethical criminals who need to be put in jail.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off. -The World Famous Tink. (I never heard of you either!!) mjosparky 4 #4 September 22, 2006 That is a call only you can make. You need to weigh how strong your feelings against Skyride are against how strong your loyalty to the DZ is. If you feel you have to bend your principal to stay then it would be time to move on. QuoteTink: They are unethical criminals who need to be put in jail. WeakMindedFool 0 #5 September 22, 2006 My dropzone does bussiness with skyride and it doen't effect me at all. The bussiness is minor compared to the tandems they do. If it brings tandems that wouldn't normally show up fine.Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves. -Eric Hoffer - Check out these Videos
popsjumper 2 #6 September 22, 2006 Do you have any ethics? Do you support those who do not? If you answer Yes to both, then you lied on answer #1. I do not support Skyride and I will not jump at a DZ that does. Period. It's not "all about me" - my driving time or people to jump with or air-conditioned packing or anything else other than not supporting crooked business models and the people who employ them. Period. IMO, this thread needs to be closed own and moved into the "What Can We Do About Skyride" thread. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. matthewcline 0 #7 September 22, 2006 But this is not what can we do, but would you work at a DZ that accepted the business. Yeah fairly close but not quite. I am finding out each day as I look into this that far more of us DO work at a Skyride DZ than SAY we work at a Skyride DZ. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety.
