getting stable arch on S/L sitting exit

Recommended Posts

When you hopped backwards off the tailgate of that skyvan, what type of precautions did you take to prevent the sl from wrapping around your neck?

All BS aside, hanging from the strut of a C-182 is the SAFEST and eaisest way for a student to learn the Sl progression. period.

Hopping from a sitting position, learning to twist the pelves, look up and arch are wasting the students copasity to learn. Learning skills they will not need to complete a program is useless.

If a student wants to continue with the Sl progression, and they are having trouble with the " put your left foot in, take your right foot out, do the hoky pokie and shake it all about" meathod, then they SHOULD seek a dz with a 182.

As you say, you have seen students struggle with the sl progression with a 182........How do you think they will do when you make it more complicated with a sitting exit from a side door?;)

I, for one, would not be jumping today if I had had to climb out before exit. :(

Yes, I was a pussy when I was a student...:$ (some may say I haven't changed much! :P)

I found it much easier on the head, as do my students now, to go from sitting "inside" the plane (I know that technically you're mostly outside) to exiting...I found it helped not having to look down...:o

I would just like to let everyone know .I went up yesterday and got one quick jump in. I took all the advise I got and tried to put it to use... I went out got BIG and looked up.
It felt awesome I was solid, on heading . my JM said I was good in the door strong exit but then told me I had a reverse Arch which I didn't think I did. My friend who was also on the load said he didn't even look out when he pulled in the line. He asked me when I got back down what jumper # were you ??? there were only 2 students on this load ...... whatever Just gonna push at the hips harder next time and do the same I did this time ....anyway JM wrote in one more with Arch then TTO's (training throw outs)... again thanx for all the words of advice ......It finally clicked
