woodpecker 0 #28 October 9, 2006 I third that. Dont even set it (push the nose in), just let it hang.SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
georgerussia 0 #29 October 9, 2006 Quote from pitch to open canopy.....my pilot takes 800 ft. and yes, I have watched my alit from pitch to open. When I roll and tuck the nose it takes right under 1000ft. It's the same with my Triathlon 190. Never took less than 700 unless I open from track. This way it can take 500-600.* Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Took awhile to get used to but I do love the comfy openings. Scared the poop out of me the 1st time I jumped my pilot ;P Mine's also around 800 ft, quite comfy indeed tho. woodpecker 0 #31 October 9, 2006 Same here. First time I jumped my pilot I rolled the nose twice and set it. The plan was to pitch at 5K so I could play around a little. NOT I pitched at 5K and just looked up amazed at the three center cells that were inflated....and started wondering, "is this fucker going to open". Hell, I didnt even look at my alti, just sat there looking up wondering. Then poof...open canopy. When I got my shit together and finally looked at my alti I was at 3K. I learned a few things that day. Keep altitude aware (First time ever lost that...and last so good wake up call), dont even touch the nose, and this fucker though giving nice comfy openings...is going to take a few feet to open. Love it though. :-PSONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I have a 117 that doesn't open hard per se, but will occasionally give me a pretty firm opening. Rolling the nose seems to help.

I've not done it any differently, and don't intend to change something (like this) thats working fine for me
phoenixlpr 0 #34 October 10, 2006 What do you want with it? Do you want it open slower and even softer? Pull the slider to the direction of the nose and roll more on the tail. Stuff the nose in the middle and leave it alone!

Stuff the nose in the middle and leave it alone! Pushing the nose in causes the lines to migrate towards the outside of the pack job which increases the risk of line over. Leave the nose alone.
