ripcord_tx 0 #1 December 28, 2006 I gave up skydiving, oh, 6 years ago, after about 500 jumps. (Yes, I miss it, that's another thread). It's not likely I'll return to skydiving, so I want to sell my old gear. I have to do this from memory, but it's a Vector-something (II?) container with a Sabre PD-190 main and... dang, I've forgotten the reserve. It has a Cypress that's over 10 years old and expired. Then there's miscellaneous stuff like altimeters and jumpsuits and stuff. What's the best way to sell this? eBay? My old riggers have retired and moved away, so that's not an option, and I haven't had a home DZ since '97. Do I sell it as-is?
AggieDave 6 #2 December 28, 2006 If you're still in TX you could try coming out to your local DZs to see if any low time jumpers want the rig. Or at the very least you could get the local gear shop to help you figure out the price and get it inspected by the local rigger. Where in TX are you?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
BIGUN 1,486 #3 December 28, 2006 First, you fill out your profile. Then, you can post it on the classifieds here. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=Complete_Systems%2Findex.html&d=1 You may want to place an ad as such: Vector II Type XYZ, S/N 12234566 DOM: 1999 Fits someone 5'7" 185 # (Or whatever size you were then). Main: Sabre1 Colors S/N 12345678 DOM: 1999 Reserve: Raven II Color S/N 1234556677 DOM: 1999 AAD: Cypres1 S/N 1234143343 10 years old. People will want to know this to check it against the stolen gear databases.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. ripcord_tx 0 #6 December 28, 2006 Thanks for the advice. Does it make more sense to sell it as-is, or get a rigger to repack it first?
BIGUN 1,486 #7 December 29, 2006 As - is for the buyer's rigger inspection (the rigger's gonna bust it open anyway). Repack & shipping is a negotiable item.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
ripcord_tx 0 #8 December 29, 2006 Dagnabbit, I have to wait 3 days before posting it. :(
Beer 0 #9 December 29, 2006 If they want to pull the old cypress or put a new one in, they'll have to pop the reserve and get a repack anyway. Learn to be happy. You can't be there for anybody else in life if you can't learn to be there for yourself.
