Got coach jumps today...ADVICE?!

Recommended Posts

TIPS, ADVICE, HELP...PLEASE?

My instructor/coach is making special arrangement to meet me at the dz this afternoon to work on loops, rolls and tracking/docking. Were gonna do 2 jumps with video.

Could you give me tips & things to think about, etc, that I can visualize to prepare myself with as I drive over to the dz?

These jumps are gonna be wild

Thanx - LiLa.

Relax, take a deep breath. Take time to feel the air.

Don't forget to have fun too... and smile for the camera... (I always look awful...) well... I did get a smile in once when my Coach stuck his tounge out and shook his head... grinning ear to ear...

The jumps went GREAT!
My coach is such a great teacher!

I did in fact take lots of calming deep breaths before exiting...
HONESTLY, that's really effective at relaxing you!

Very successive jumps, too:
1st jump worked on tracking/docking & it went great without a hitch.
2nd jump worked on Backloop- SO COOL! & SO EASY!
Front flip, a little trickier, but still cool, kinda barrel-rolled out of it...

But the thing is,
I understand so much better now-after doing it. Having it all on VIDEO IS PRICELESS in helping to work on techniques and necessary corrections.

Now I don't know what I was so scared of- other than just the known. Ya know?

THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME SPORT!

Maybe you're scared to fall out of the plane? I mean, that could e dangerous ;)

good job w/ your jumps, video came out nice.

slowing down your breathes and making them calm and relaxed is an excellent way to force yourself to relax, especially in times of high stress (emergency situations)

physiological reactions can determine mental condition, and mental condition can determine physical reaction. Remember this and utilize it. It'll help when you really need it

Thanx Ky!

Having it on video is a real bonus.
Maybe I'll be able to get and stay stable more easily
and keep a heading better NOW that I know
what & where the issue is that needs correction.

That physiological observation was pretty profound!
Must be that some of your university classes are making an impact on ya huh?
Practical Application in Skydiving 101;)?!
Cool!

See Ya!

I haven't done a clean front flip yet. First few I ended up on my back. The next few I waited a bit longer, but ended up in a sitfly position. Very interesting - after I get the RW stuff a bit more settled and get a clean rig, I'm going that direction.

if you ended in a sit, you're letting your legs out too quick. if you're having a problem putting legs out too quick, let yourself go around twice (2 front loops)

then work your way down to stopping yoursellf on time.

....that or just go in to a stand and then lean forward and tuck...WOO!! that'll get you over!

Front loops must be more challenging for some? reason...!

My coach says "I'm really coming along now."

Next thing to get down is DIVING EXITS! I'm a little stuck in a rut with getting REALLY comfortable with a hanging exit. Peiece of cake with that...
But DIVING-out...?!

I'm gonna need to get the exit 100yards+ after somebody and dock signed off my card, too,

So may need to make fun jumps with other more experienced jumpers- (Please?:)
Honestly- I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY DIVING EXITS yet!

next time we jump outta the same plane I'll dive out....wait, what are yout alking about,I've done a dive manyatime w/ you in the plane, lol.

but yeah, lemme know and I'll do a nice dive for you to watch. even w/ diving, you don't even have to tumble, it's really easy to stay flat during that 1st 10 seconds/1000 feet. but why would you want to stay on your belly? :P

"just do it" you're 11000 feet off the ground, you have more than enough time to fixyourself. we were makin hop'n'pops from 3 grand w/ a tumblingn exit today and comming out fine. You've got at least 5 tmies the ff we got. go 4 it!!!! :)

Hell, lets launch a 2-wayB|B|

.....j/k

I had a harder time actually, with just the regular exits. I found it much easier to just leap out, do a forward roll and then steady out. Those low tails on some planes make me nervous! I think I also would impart some sort of twisting motion stepping out into the air.

To do it without the flip, you tuck your legs up on your butt and hands out high. As you become more level with the ground, go to normal.

Try it on your next solo...if you screw it up, you know how to recover. Yesterday I managed the next step. I was the lead diver on a 2 way. Went out the door and while on the hill did a 180 to the right, which then let me look up at the plane and the following guy. On the downside, I kept my legs in too much and did some backsliding.

Thank you...You give me a really clear visual image to think about, and that's how this brain of mine thinks thru things of action or process...in moving picture images!

I actually understand better, thanx. ...I'll email thoughts for input to my coach and work towards planning on doing those diving exits!

Appreciate your input!

:)
