dzolloyd 0 #1 January 23, 2007 Recently I saw a post in the forums from a jumper that has a six digit USPA membership number and a four digit "D" License number. I checked the USPA DZO credential database and sure enough, he does. Anyone know how this possible for someone that has only been jumping 12 years.GET SOME, altitude! wmw999 2,584 #2 January 23, 2007 The "years in sport" is whatever the jumper feels is relevant. If the jumper was experienced in the 1970's, quit for 20 years, let their membership lapse, and started again 5 years ago, it would be entirely possible. I didn't jump for 13 years, but I count the time because I still read Parachutist, corresponded with friends, and read and participated in rec.skydiving. But others with similar histories don't count that time. No rules. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
PhreeZone 20 #3 January 23, 2007 Don't trust the "Years" number on here. Lots of people key in only years they have been active and skip the years they were not active.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
BIGUN 1,483 #4 January 23, 2007 If he got his D-License back in the 70's or 80's, then had a break in membership and came back - his membership number would be a new issue, but his old license number would be re-issued. So in this case, 6 years of membership the first time in the 70's or 80's, then re-joined and has been active the past 6 years - so on dz.com would be "in-sport" 12 years. For example - my first skydive was in 1981 "In Sport" 8 years the first time; 8 years in sport this time so my dz.com should be 16 years "In sport."Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. steveorino 7 #5 January 23, 2007 Read this thread, it may give insight to how that is possible. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=953468;#953468 steveOrino

councilman24 37 #7 January 23, 2007 See my license number below. My member ship number is only somewhat higher still under 10000. IIRC it seems that back in the 80's sometime USPA did something with the membership numbers or mayber just mine and I ended up with what I've got. Maybe it was an abandoned one that they wanted to reuse. Never really cared.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Jerry D-1543 I must bow to your much lower D # and say "You are right." Actually, I spent the sixties riding my bike and playing football and baseball. I didn't reach the teen years until the next decade. The seventies were a lot of fun too.

"Years in sport" When I first signed up to dropzone.com, I put in 8 since my active jumping was from 73 to 80. However, I kept getting responses to my posts like "how could you have been in the first 16 way diamond if you've only been jumping since 1999?" After a couple of dozen of those, I changed it. I haven't been active all that time, but once a skydiver, always a skydiver Besides, I'm going active again this weekend, just a short 27 year layoff... ----------------------- Roger "Ramjet" Clark FB# 271, SCR 3245, SCS 1519
