piisfish 140 #4 February 15, 2007 QuoteSeveral questions.... How does he deploy the wings after exit, and how does he retract them after opening?so first it's not rocket man, it's Jet-Man , rockets and jets are different. The wings used to be deployed with a pneumatic spring, which made openings very brutal and not very controlled. Now the system is a bit slower IIRC with electric winches (or similar system). Then to fold themhe unlocks the wings and pushes them back.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

piisfish 140 #6 February 15, 2007 QuoteOK, I understood almost none of that. Jet man, not rocket man....I get that part. ok, so chek the older video : "The first jet-powered flying man in the history of aviation. video" Look at the openings, it was with a gas loaded spring. Super brutal, not always symetrical (sometimes one wing would lock open correctly and not the other). Now the opening is slow, powerful and controlled, more or less like a garage door automatic system. More or less like if a rod was pushing the wing in place. Sorry I am not very good in technical stuff, and even less in english scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

piisfish 140 #8 February 15, 2007 QuoteOkay, how much for one and will it fit in an otter actual cost for one would be quite expensive, but if it fits in a Porter you can fit 6 of them in an Otter If you buy 6, I'm sure we can do a good price scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
Fast 0 #9 February 15, 2007 QuoteOkay, how much for one and will it fit in an otter If I remember the video right he is using 4 JetCat turbines. They run about 2500 a piece for just the turbine. He might have special order ones too which cost more.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
