Education is one thing. Having the smarts to use it is another.
Then there's the ego factor. Never mind that people have died developing this sport that we enjoy today, "Screw that. I have a better way of doing it. Hold my beer and watch this!"
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Quoteis it that difficult to educate people for exit orders, height and distance separation so that one DZ has to ban swwoping!? maybe delands instructors are just not worth the money..
PA removed by slotperfect. Just because someone explains the rules doesn't mean people will follow the rules.
I'm not a big fan of some of the stuff that goes on at Skydive Deland, thats no secret. However Deland has got damn good instructors. Your smart ass comment adds nothing to this thread and simply makes you look like PA removed by slotperfect.

Exit order and horizontal separation are determined according to freefall activities not landing plans. If you and I are doing a two-way and I plan on doing a 270, that doesn't mean you are as well. Should the tandems go first because the cameraflyer wants to swoop?
And maybe you should have more jumps than my dog before you make such unsupported statements!!!Quotemaybe delands instructors are just not worth the money..

virgin-burner: although taking a poke at the instructors at DeLand is not technically a PA according to the Forum Rules, the fact that you made it without backing it up is extremely bad form. If your profile is correct, you have a lot to learn . . . regarding this issue and the skydiving world at large. I don't know if you have visited DeLand from Switzerland . . . if not I suggest you check it out for yourself before you make such statements.
freefalle: [warning] PAs are not allowed in the forums. I removed two from your reply to virgin-burner. [/warning]

Spelling out the obvious - If you plan to do a solo RW with a suitable canopy for your experience, you'll likely be exiting ahead of all of the free fallers. On some of the otter loads out here in CA, that could be 10-20 people behind you, many of whom will have a higher wing loading. Only if you have a particular high or low wingloading won't some of them be landing around the same time as you.
Not to say that banning is required to solve the problem.

QuoteYea I know those guy's attitude suck, that's why a lot of jumpers don't care to go there, myself I find kind of funny and don't let it bug me, I just give them the evil eye they give, back and make sure I give a big loud YAHOO on take off too just to piss them off and make fun of their invisiable grip taking on the ride up, the students all crack up and they just give more of the same evil eye they shoot every one as they prance around the dz. In fact I think it is so goddam funny I make a point of packing in the creeper area they don't ever use because they all have their own hangers now, but they still get piss off a non team weenie is in their turf, it's a lot of fun to watch them all walk by or stand in their hangers giving the evil eye to me, so I just pack and smile back, hell if I'm in a good mood I might even wave at um.
How sad. A true indictment of the, "With age, comes wisdom" philosophy.
I think it would be interesting if everyone in this thread posted their age. Not saying there would be a pattern,...

QuoteIt would be more entertaining if everyone posted their IQ.
Is there an expiration date? The only time I ever took an IQ test was in 6th grade.

QuoteQuoteQuoteLooks like if I want to make a fun jump I'll have to drive to Zhills.
You are incapable of having fun without a 270?
Sometimes it's a 450.
Some people in this sport have chosen high performance canopy flight as their passion. Your question is akin to asking a freeflyer if they are incapable of having fun without freeflying. It's what they do, not just a bonus to their skydive.
If you want to have fun freeflying, you're asked to exit after the belly flyers. Doesn't seem to be a problem. If you want to have fun doing a 270, 450, you're asked to land in a designated area.
So what's the problem?

Where is it? The OP said it hadn't been defined.
You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

You'll have to ask someone from Deland if the HP landing area has been designated yet. Doc's from Iowa.
In the meantime, I don't think banning capri pants is a good solution. No sir, No sir ree, Bob.

WHAT? You say you think freeflyers should not be allowed to exit first? I can't believe you want to BAN FREEFLYING! I'm heading straight off to the T-shirt shop to get some shirts printed that say "FREEFLYING IS NOT A CRIME" to deal with the likes of you.
(j/k)
But seriously, I think that's a good comparison. Asking freeflyers to exit last allows them and the RW folks to use the same jump run safely; having a separate area for swoopers does the same for canopy traffic.
QuoteAgain I got "don't pull above 3,000". I informed them all that we had three low time jumpers and that once we tracked away they would pull.
I would suggest not pulling high at that dropzone. Even with good separation, sometimes the pilots do a quick 180 for a second pass and there is a risk of them deploying overhead. I know firsthand.
I'm glad Perris implemented the 90 degree landing rule for the main landing area.
