SabreCat 0 #1 November 13, 2007 What is the FAI? What does this all mean? http://www.alskydiving.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1749 And does anyone know what LASA is? I'm confused
jakee 1,595 #2 November 13, 2007 Federation Aeronautique Internationale. Worldwide 'governing' body for pretty much every aviation sport. Affiliation with the FAI is what gives a licence issued by one national body (say, USPA) legitimacy with another national body (say, BPA). They also recognise world records and hold the rules for international competitions like the world meet. I have no idea what LASA is.Do you want to have an ideagasm? Andrewwhyte 1 #5 November 13, 2007 Doesn't seem to be any mention of them on the FAI site. The only member from the US is the NAA; I can't find a mention of where the USPA fits in either.

In the UK the BPA is a member of the Royal Aero Club, which in turn is affiliated to the FAI. I'm pretty sure the USPA and the NAA work in a similar fashion.Do you want to have an ideagasm? I still haven't found LASA anywhere.

yarak 0 #14 November 16, 2007 L.A.S.A is indeed a member of the FAI. We are new to it though so we might not be on there yet. We are working on our GSL manual. Its like a SIM.I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.

What type of member are they? Just so I'll know where to look when they do make the web-site. Will they be sending the US representatives to the world championships in the future or will that still be USPA? If so will they send reps under a non-national category? bbarnhouse 0 #16 November 16, 2007 Just in case people are interested this is the procedure for world class competitiors and world record participants. In order to compete at a world level event (read championship/cup) or participate in a world record for the United States one must have a current USPA membership, a membership in the NAA, a NAA sporting license (only valid with a USPA membership)and a FAI stamp. The NAA is the United States representative to Federation Aeronautique Internationale. This license is valid in all countries represented in the FAI. The license must be produced in order to take part in sporting events or to attempt records goverened by FAI regulations.
