FreeFallin247 0 #1 November 20, 2007 How difficult is it to learn how to sky board/surf. I have been watching a lot of videos online to try to understand the technique. It looks cool. Here is one of my favorite videos. http://www.burlysports.com/video/18950
PhreeZone 20 #2 November 20, 2007 That looks to be potentially one of Joe Jennings demo reels. There are a few skysurfers still 0out there but for the most part its a dieing part of the sport. Search it out on here and you'll find lots of info.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
dragon2 2 #3 November 20, 2007 Depending on where you live there may be regulations about when you can start, ours are proven freestyle experience and a C license. If/when you have the required experience it may be hard to find a coach/teacher depending on where you live, the discipline isn't that popular anymore because it's a fairly dangerous and somewhat lonely discipline and not all dz's like the room it takes up in the aircraft and the dropping things out of the sky thing. That said it's still on my list of cool things to do sometime ciel bleu, Saskia

Here is one of my favorite videos. http://www.burlysports.com/video/18950 It's not hard given reasonable head-up flying skills (controlled rotation 360 degrees about all three axis in both directions starting and ending with a sit or stand), a beginner board, some drag up top, a suitable canopy, and a few hundred jumps to be comfortable and more likely to perform emergency procedures correctly. speedy 0 #5 November 21, 2007 I did video for a sky surfer for number of jumps. After reviewing the video's I removed skysurfing from my list of things to try But if anyone wants to try we have someone at our DZ that can get them started. We have the beginners boards for loan as well. Wanna go for it next year Saskia? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
dragon2 2 #6 November 21, 2007 Hmmmmm would need to brush up on freestyle first and get the obligatory jumps on video. Does "some drag up top" include camera wings? Dunno if I even want to jump a beginner board, have been told it's actually safer to start with an intermediate board so you can open standing up. Maybe I would like to give it a try, I'll keep it in mind ciel bleu, Saskia
riggerrob 643 #7 November 21, 2007 "Drag up top" involves a sit-suit or baggy sweat shirt.

speedy 0 #9 November 21, 2007 We have intermediate boards as well. But I am not someone with experience. You will have to ask our skysurf instructor what best to start on. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
