Tents are certainly not and issue, we are working on more electrical for trailers, if it cant be pulled off we are looking at offering generators to rent. However we do have a motel with 40 rooms 12 minutes away for $26.00 (single bed) plus tax a night!!! Yes it is a 26 dollar room, but........ James took a tour and he said many have new carpet and they are clean. The average customers are construction workers, so.. sorry for some, its not surrounded by a bunch of call girls. I think he said doubles were 35. I wil have all that in the site soon. AHHHHHHHhhhh the farm animals...oh I mean girls...what more could I ask for??? Cant wait! scottjaco 0 #28 January 12, 2008 Quote There are lots of EVENTS still happening at DZ`s but far as Major Boogies, Seems they are all going away. Well, let me explain why I would go to a boogie in the first place. I would want to visit some place I've never been to before, that would offer new experiences that aren't available anywhere else. I went to a couple of the Eloy Holiday boogies because I wanted to see the worlds largest dropzone and jump out of the DC-3 and hot air balloons. I also wanted to see the new wind tunnel they had. I would love to go to Lost Prairie for it’s cool location and vibe. Boogies are suffering because the term is being thrown out too often. What exactly makes a boogie any different than any other day at the dropzone? It seems that most boogies are only good for organizing large RW & Canopy formations. If you aren’t into that, it’s just another day at the DZ. It also seems that boogies are more like family reunions than skydiving events. It’s all the old-school jumpers that haven’t been in the sport all year, getting back together to shoot the shit and do some RW. You need to keep the experiences fresh from year to year to keep the boogies going. Bring in some new aircraft and night time activities instead of perpetually raising the balloon jump prices every year. I guess the cost of helium is insane right now
tkhayes 348 #29 January 12, 2008 Easter Boogie at Z-Hills - just 'cause it is at a regular dropzone, does not mean it is not big. Thanksgiving this year, 500+ jumpers, 4 aircraft, and 4500+ jumps, 9 days Christmas Boogie, 700+ jumpers, 5 aircraft, 7000 jumps, 10 days Easter is typically 400-500 jumpers, 4 aircraft and 4000-5000 jumps. And it is early this year, so still cold and miserable up north and probably even more people attending. "A dropzone does not a Boogie make" It is the people who come who make the event.
