Static Line Exit from a 206U, Caravan, Twin Otter, or a Tailgate

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time locating any dropzones that use a 206U, Caravan, Twin Otter, Pac, or tailgate that train students on the static line Method. I'm not wanting to get into a discussion on which method is better (Hence this thread not being in the Instructor's Forum), but I would be really interested in finding some photographs on Student, (Not military) Static line exits from a non C-182 platform.

I appreciate it. It is helping me in some of my pet-research projects in aircraft economic analysis and the feasibility of smaller, club style dropzones training students with more advanced aircraft.

*Edited for grammar and to clarify a few points

You might contact livendive - I believe he's doing IAD out of a Caravan in Washington. Different method of course, but there are probably at least some similarities in the challenges.

This will be a new thing for our DZ - I am interested to see how the students will do - the different techniques that will be used to teach them in exiting ect.

We've done SL from an AN-28. Not really a problem, but some mods has too be done.

The student will get tossed around a bit more since it's a tailgate. Also when doing dummypulls the student need to do it after 2sec so the instuctor can see the pull. The reason is that the canopy will deploy faster then from a c-182.
