PERFECT WING LOADING ?

Recommended Posts

Quote

Hi looking to buy a rig but was wondering if there is a ideal wing loading for a person who don't swoop. I also don't like going backwards. any advice will be greatly accepted.

THANK YOU THINK BLUE

Simple answer:
Ask the instructors where you jump... they know how you fly and what would be best.
No, it's not the 'standard response'.. people here don't know you, haven't seen you flying a canopy. At best you would get a suggested wing loading. Your instructors and dzo know you and know your abilities..
The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers...

Just kidding. There is no one ideal wing loading. It varies by jumper skill, jumper size, weight, conditions, altitude etc.

Just a few examples:

A Sabre2 120 loaded at 1:1 flies nothing like a Sabre2 170 loaded at 1:1.

A Sabre2 150 at 1:1 lands very differently at sea level than at 2500 feet.

A Sabre2 120 at 1.8 to 1 lands differently when you have a tall guy with a floppy freefly suit vs a short 4-way guy in a slick suit and 8 lbs of lead.

Etc etc.

Nor do I. By far the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is to stay on the ground when winds are high
