popsjumper 2 #51 February 17, 2008 QuoteGeneralizing the personalities of the entire board in to one self-serving machine is a very sad misconception. There are many members of the board who work very hard for the sport and the general membership. Indeed it is...very sad. If it's possible to weed out the stumbling blocks, then great. If not, then you can't expect different output using the same input. So far, it's not possible to weed out all the individual stumbling blocks, with one obvious exception, and nobody else is saying anything to shed much light on the real problem children. I think there's more to it than just two personalities clashing. Ah, time will tell...hopefully before the elections. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. popsjumper 2 #52 February 17, 2008 I have always used a photocopy. I, like Airtwardo, like to keep my mags intact. To clarify my earlier post...it was intended not so much to defend Jan as it was to slam the bozos for ignoring or purposely circumventing the rules of procedure and then not correcting it when the issue was raised by Jan.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239

Here's a few things you can do to educate yourself before the next election: Read the minutes of the most recent board meeting. See who made which motions, who voted for them or against them. Go to the summer BOD meeting and see them in action for yourself. Talk to people who have been to the meetings. Talk to your RD. You can't just create a black list of the entire board and vote them out because you haven't taken the initiative to find out anything about them as individuals. NWFlyer 2 #54 February 17, 2008 Quote Talk to people who have been to the meetings. Talk to your RD. And once you've done that, you may identify a few other BOD members to talk to... and once you've done that, it's amazing how much information you'll gather even if you can't go to a meeting. There are several BOD members that I have found are very open and willing to talk to members 1:1, via email or PM, or on the phone, or in person, about the board and their experience on the board."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
peckerhead 0 #55 February 17, 2008 Quote I think this whole thing is sitting right directly on the border of crossing over into "delete the ENTIRE board and start afresh. There just CAN'T BE anybody worse out there to elect as replacements. Can there? Throw the baby out with the wash? So be it. If I remember correctly there were 7 new board members elected in the last election. Since then the Mid-Eastern and Eastern positions have been replaced. So out of the 7 new board members one has only been on the board for about a week, another about 7 months and the other 5 for just over a year. It would seem to me that those 7 people also felt we needed new people on the board and they actually did something about it.
popsjumper 2 #56 February 18, 2008 Thanks for your input, most of which is obvious, some of which will reveal nothing. I'm getting the feeling that you are thinking I'm proposing a complete whitewash. If you go back and read the post that started your replies, you will see that's not the case at all. Let me re-phrase and see if you get it.... I am frustrated that so much shit is flying around and little to nothing is being said about who the real problem children are...again with one blatant exception. Glenn seems to be getting a lot of votes for "problem child" in here. If you can't tell which wheel is squeaking, one solution is that you oil them all. Simple as that. We have several months to go before that point is reached. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. We have several months to go before that point is reached. I agree with your thoughts but not your solution. Why can't you tell which wheel is squeaking? Because nobody is gossiping about it. People have posted on several ways to help you find out which "wheels are squeaking". And I'll be happy to tell you what I found out.. but I'm not going to post a list of names. Going to the board meetings and talking to directors is very illuminating. There's one problem with reading the meeting minutes instead of actually being there (or watching them on-line since DSE was so kind to video and post the meetings on Friday). I have read previous meeting minutes, and I don't think it says who voted for or against what motions. Only the number (ie. "Motion to call the meeting to order passed 19-0"). So short of being there in person or watching the video, you really can't tell who voted for what. And I don't think anyone on here is going to post a list of names who they think are the "squeaking wheels" (besides maybe BillyVance ). Posts made here can, and have been re-quoted in lawsuits. Do some research and decide for yourself where you think the problems lie. Talk to the people you trust who have been to the meetings to get their impressions. Talk to your directors. Watch the meetings on-line. I also agree with Thanatos340, we all need to see who is on the ballot for the next election before making an educated decision on who to vote (or not vote) for. flyhi 24 #60 February 20, 2008 Quote a Pro-Sherry Butcher kind of day with a large turn out, if you know what I mean. Not from my region, but I met her a few times and I have no problem with her. Nice lady. To me this is pro-active and a way to foster participation. I can add two other names to the list who did the same thing at DZ's where I was. I voted for both of them. They didn't make or change my mind, they just made it easier to perform the process. They both are or were on the board. One of them even gave me a pull-up cord. Graft?Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
