Movement on level 3 AFF

Recommended Posts

I did my level 3 jump the other day. While watching the video I noticed that I slide or drift sideways when the instructors let me go. I'm sure there is a term for this, I just can't think of it right now. How much movement is normal and is it something that better body position would improve? I remember one my instructors said something about me sliding 90 degrees but it wasn't until I got home and watched it a few times before I could see t for myself. I will discuss it with both instructors when I see them later this week but in the mean time I wanted to see what I could find out here. Thanks!

Well, anything mechanical is body position so, yes, to answer the question. I've never seen you fly nor have I seen the video so I can't judge...your instructors can help you with this. Something that helped me out when I was a student was arm and leg checks. If you're moving in ways that you shouldn't be take a second to bring your hands to your ears and back out again and tap your feet together...it helps create symmetry.

You will move a lot, and that is normal. Your instructors and video guy might have moved too, making it look like you moved on the video...

FYI... I have seen freefliers who left their belly after their 10 jump and have 1000 sitfly and head down jumps slide all over the sky on their belly as if they never had been on their belly before.B|

Unless your instructors are very concerned and tell you things you need to work on, and suggest you cannot move on to the next level until you "fix something", relax and move on.

It takes time and experience... No AFF student (without tunnel time) ever is perfect. Have you ever watched someone learning to ski or snowboard? They are not perfect on their first time either.

DON'T WORRY, YOU ARE NORMAL. :P
