ladyhawke 0 #26 April 11, 2008 I demoed a 170 Silhouette and didn't like the way it flew. A little on the sluggish side for me. I like more zippy! I understand everyone's opinions about not downsizing because of container size. So, what I think I will do is look for a used Vector that will fit what I have (and me) and also demo a 150 main. If I don't demo I won't know if I can handle it or not. Flying the canopy is what I love and maybe at this point I can handle a 150. I've got to find that out. Thanks tho for your input! packerboy 3 #27 April 11, 2008 Just a thought... You currently fly a Pilot 168? This happens to be a great canopy for someone buying a first rig. When I was looking to go from a 150 to a 135, there happened to be a guy selling an older rig with a 135. Canopies were of comparable condition, so we just switched canopies and he advertised his rig for sale with the choice of a 150 or 135. The seller automatically got more interest in his rig because it was now an option for a wider range of jumpers, particularily new jumpers looking for a cheap old rig with a starter canopy. The type of jumper to be jumping the smaller parachute wouldn't necessarily by looking to buy that rig. The buyer chose the 150 and I downsized for absolutely free. It's an option.... gl -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
JerryBaumchen 1,445 #28 April 13, 2008 Hi hawke, Just for some info; about 12-13 yrs ago I had RWS (now UPT) put a new, larger main container on a Vector Tandem rig. It cost me about $150 back then; can't say what it would be now. When I got it back, you could not tell that it was not built that way originally and it REALLY looked great. I would strongly suggest that you contact them. Bill does his best to make customers happy (within reason, of course ). JerryBaumchen
