CapitaineJack 0 #1 May 26, 2008 I have completed AFF and Have done a few solo fun jumps but I am not yet certified. I now have 32 jumps and a log book to prove it. I am looking to go and do some more training over the summer in spain to gain a license. Should I go USPA(Which I think they use at the spanish dropzone) or BPA (as I live in britain)? Will there be any difference?
bclark 0 #2 May 26, 2008 I think that as long as the licensing organization is recognized by the FAI (Federation Aeronatique Internationale), you should be able to jump in most places. The back of my USPA license says that the FAI issues "international parachutist certificates". I may be wrong, but this is what I understand to be true. brettski74 0 #3 May 27, 2008 Do a search on here. There have been a couple of threads about people from the UK who have obtained their licence abroad (most commonly in the US or under USPA) and then had issues upon first returning to the UK and wanting to jump. I believe the problem lies in there being one or two requirements for the BPA A licence that are not included in many foreign organisations' A licence requirements. You would do well to talk to the folks at the local dropzone where you are thinking of doing most of your jumping as to whether a USPA A licence would be accepted and/or what additional steps you might have to take on return to the UK in order to jump as a licensed skydiver. 174fps 1 #4 May 27, 2008 If you intend to jump in the UK, you will be required to join BPA even foreign licensed jumpers must join to jump there.
