lilchief 1 #26 June 6, 2008 Unfortunately, in my mind, that is to often true. To many "experienced" skydivers have stopped listening to newcomers. it's a fact that many newcomers are potentially dangerous for them selves and everyone around them. But still..cutting someone off by simply saying what "everyone" else is saying, is not a good approach. You're not talking with the person, you're taking to him/her. The result is then that the person still doesn't know the answer, just an attitude, and still equally potentially dangerous. I really like this thread, because no one here bit him/her off. Aggidave had a well written post taking the little time to actually "listen" and provide the person with a good solid answer. I tried a Silhuette 150(WL @ 1.4-ish) this easter in Spain. Before then I was skeptic about it because I believed that it wasn't a "good" canopy. Simply because it didn't have any "performance". And you know what...it was really fun to fly!! why? As mentioned already, I didn't have to fly it all the time, and I could land it where I wanted. Kind of the same thing as playing a primitive PC game online compared to Battlefield 2/WOW/CS etc.. They don't have the same graphic and realism, but they're fun after all due to their simplicity =) I fly now a Samurai 136 @ WL 1.6 and training for competitive swooping. AggieDave 6 #27 June 7, 2008 Quote I just noticed that the JVX all sail is using an updated more durable material. I have not noticed a problem with mine but then again I don't jump over a pond or in desert conditions. My opinion only - NZ Aerosport is the technology leader and PD follows. Here is a note from canopypiloting dot com........ Hopefully they worked out the technology problem with the durability of the material. I felt bad for all of those folks that spent thousands of dollars on what was basically an ever evolving prototype design. A cutting edge design, none the less. My comment in regards to PD vs. Deadalus (sp?) was in terms of what you see in all the comps again and again. I'm pretty partial to PD, but then again I should be.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
cocheese 0 #28 June 7, 2008 You'll shoot your eye out kid.Think of a fighter jet with tiny stiff wings. Falls out of the sky at slow speeds, but can do some wicked shit when cookin. Now think of a Cessna 182 with no weight. Which one would you rather land in a small area? Which one would you like to do fly bys with? The difference in canopy size and shape is like that of airplanes.
