Call me a party pooper, but why can't you guys just be happy with the 400way record for a while? When will end? how safe are these jumps?

I've had a pic of the current record on my fridge since the 246 way which i saw live. It's an unbelievable accomplishment. Cheers to you all.

What ever the a/c it will have to be done outside of the US. A/C capable of doing are unavailable in the US due to liability issues and the FAA.

Back to serious thought... what about an oddball formation similar to the standard lead skyvan + trail otters setup?

1 of something that holds 200ish, then c130's for the rest?

That way there's only 200 new slots instead of 500

If everyone was in a completely new plane that had never been used I imagine part of the attempts would be just getting used to the new planes vs. supplementing with C130's where there's actually a known quantity of skydivers that have a number of jumps from it.

Not so fast, they did a 300 way out of Twin otters and a King Air, in Arizona a few years back.......

There you go Harry ! Of course you'd have to launch this fleet from several airports, or you'd have planes running low on fuel before everyone's even airborne.

Not like I was there, but, the speed of empying the planes is probably the limiting factor. Emptying a plane that holds 200 would probably get the exit pretty strung out.

I also don't think AC familiarity is really much of an issue, the exit speed has to be the same for everyone after all, so the exit speed is the minimum jump run speed of any of the AC.
