chuckakers 426 #1 July 8, 2008 From a post in another category: QuoteAtmonauti, unlike traditional free-fall - including tracking and flocking - (that utilises the relative gravitational wind from “below” to achieve a multitude of stable body positions at terminal velocity) is the term given to the technique that intentionally utilises lift to compensate for the effect of gravity, in order to achieve relative wind (or a custom “tube”) at an angle of between 10deg – 65deg, where after the atmonaut (atmosphere navigator) introduces a multitude of three dimensional body positions and transitions, while “falling” at greatly reduced speeds (70mph – 110mph), resulting in extended free-fall time and increased safety. 70mph with a regular jumpsuit? Can anyone confirm that?Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
Peej 0 #2 July 8, 2008 Chuck, sorry to piss on your parade but Skymama has already locked another thread in the freefly forum to do with Atmo. Here is a thread in the instructors forum, we've been asked to keep the discussion there. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3140464;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

Here is a repost of a link I put in that Atmonauti thread. http://www.trackingderby.com/en/trace_view_3399_meters.php This is the only actual data I've ever seen. Click on "Vertical Speed" just above the graph to get the vertical speed graph. Then convert that to mph."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.

I just want to know if anyone can confirm a fallrate of 70mph without the use of wings of any sort. I did check out the link from Ryoders reply. Looks like the slowest vertical speed on that graph was about 150 km/h, which is about 90mph. My question stands. Can anyone confirm routine Atmo-whatever fallrates of 70mph?Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
