RkyMtnHigh 0 #1 March 7, 2005 Throughout my "short" time in the sport, I've been to SDC, MileHi, Denver Skydivers (Brush), Eloy, GoldCoast, Emerald Coast, Deland, Titusville, Zhills, Lake Wales, Sebastian, Clewiston, Skydive Miami and others and have noticed that waivers are very different from dz to dz...some are short and some are 10 pages. How come? What is the real purpose of a waiver other than to say "I understand this is a dangerous sport and I promise not to sue?" _________________________________________
mattjw916 2 #2 March 7, 2005 Wait until you make it out to SoCal DZs like Elsinore where they actually video you signing your waiver and recite some gibberish in lawyerese then sacrifice a chicken and smear fresh blood on the document to prove it's authentic and you really, REALLY mean it. That aside, Elsinore rocks BTW. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

RkyMtnHigh 0 #4 March 7, 2005 ....do you think it has something to do with the size and location of the dz and number of attorneys? _________________________________________

It’s not really a bad idea, although a pain in the ass. Imagine in court before a jury showing the video of the dead or mangled “victim” stating that “I understand that things could go way wrong and I could be seriously killed, or just fucked up in general…”Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. kelpdiver 2 #8 March 7, 2005 I believe one of the pages for Monterey was for the benefit of the city of Marina or the airport. Some DZs have more third party players, some have none at all. And past events (read, lawsuits) can lead to additions to the bundle. Lodi's waiver is easy enough - the only signature is your credit card. None if you pay cash. When I did my first tandem in 1995, I thought the waiver was long enough, but I was more amused by the video with the guy in the fake law looking beard sitting on the classic law office set. It wasn't until recently that I knew that was Bill Booth, and it was the real deal.

People's reactions to the video are similar to yours, especially to the image of Bill Booth, until we tell them who he is and what he's done for the sport.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." RkyMtnHigh 0 #10 March 8, 2005 Tandem waivers..of course are more pages...but I am referring to fun jumper waivers. Most dz's have different waivers for either. _________________________________________
