KathleenL 0 #51 September 4, 2008 I heard that it was Green Berets as well. I am glad that no one was hurt. And it is really funny after the fact knowing that noone got hurt.
Misternatural 0 #52 September 4, 2008 Just now on a segment on CNBC Fast Money "Pops and Drops" they called the event a "Drop for skydiving" G'haw haw haw, oh.. those financial gurus crack me up.... especially since the Dow dropped 344 points today.Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. thomastalbott 0 #54 September 5, 2008 Once again thanks to those "professional jumpers" Serveral of us will suffer for a huge *&^*& up. I could be wrong but about 2000 feet you can tell if you are landing in the right stadium by seeing.....oh well maybe.... the shape of the stadium(none are totally alike in that area), the logo on the field different than the one you saw early in the day, the required ground flag or visiual signal is not there, hearing from your ground crew by radio(which you should have) asking where are you guys????, seeing people and football players on the field right where you should be landing. At 2000 you should say HMMMMMMM this does not look right to me.....lets go land out instead of on someone and have to have yet one more insurance claim and a law suit against our demo team. I could be wrong in my thoughts but I do have 150 stadium jumps and most of them are at night. Guys I know you are good jumpers and you do a few demos but this one totally takes the cake. Time to turn in you PRO cards for a year and practice some more. I wonder if the RD is going to take them away??? Now all of us who do demo's will have to answer for your @#&*en need to have to jump and be seen. If the weather sucks, so be it. There will be another day to jump. Think on that and write lots of "I am sorry" letters. It is the only way you will see a demo into NC again. It is better to live for one single moment of glory, than to have never lived at all. BillyVance 35 #55 September 6, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if the ACC decides on a moratorium on demo jumps into ACC games. The SEC did it after the fuck up at the Alabama-Miss State game a number of years ago. A demo jumper hooked it in and femured, IIRC. airtwardo 7 #57 September 9, 2008 Quote Well, we know it wasn't Airtwardo. Instead of just trailing smoke he'd have been on FIRE!!!! . . . http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2008/08/31/misdirected-skydiver-crashes-duke-football-opener-instead-of-lan/ NickD BTDT~!...Years ago I was supposed to do a bandit party jump into Marshal Scottys east of the Cajon Zone...opps, WRONG FREAKIN' PARK! All good though, a guy at the 'wrong' party took me back to Gillespie and tossed me outta his 310 into the RIGHT park. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
NickDG 23 #58 September 9, 2008 And when I did my first demo in Los Angeles it was into some guy's back yard and he said, "it's the one with the all the people and a pool." And this may say something about how isolated people stay from their neighbors, but every house down there had a pool and people in the yard. It's like until you touched down you never really knew if you'd get, "That was cool, man," or, "Who the fuck are you?" NickD

bozo 0 #61 September 19, 2008 Back in the late 80s the demo team I was jumping with was hired to jump the grand opening ceremonies of a local Boy Scout jamboree. It was in a minor league baseball stadium. Anyway....we were circling , the ground crew guy said go.......we landed in a completely deserted stadium and to top it off the sprinklers came on as we were landing. There had been some disagreement with the Scouts and stadium management and they cancelled the event....forgetting to tell us. Our ground crew guy said "quit yer bitching , ya got a free jump didnt ya? " Well yeah. hahaha bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars. smears 0 #62 September 19, 2008 Thanks for replying to me twice and saying the same thing. If you read my post you would have read the words "rumor" and "don't quote me." I never said it was true, all I said is I heard it was the green berets. And yes, I have done demos before, not stadiums yet bc I don't have the jump numbers, but on all of them I have landed at least on the right property ;)
