Going for Level 2

Recommended Posts

Signed up for my Level 2 Tandem yesterday. Jump is Sunday at Sky Knights. Can't wait!

I'm really going to try to be more than cargo this time. I know what to expect, the door isn't bothering me to much since I realized you're supposed to fall out, and I'm really looking forward to some canopy control. Was offered the toggles the first time, but couldn't do it - brain lock, I guess.

My wife thinks I'm nuts........so I'm still par for the course!

Well you ARE suppose to fall out...if you don't, you don't skydive. ;)

Sounds like you're really psyched! Have a blast! B|

PS. Yes you are nuts...seems like all skydivers are...:D

Yeah, but I had a real issue afterwards with the door. Finally put things in perspective, that helped a lot (at least on the ground!)

It's interesting the change you feel when you decide to do this - kind of confidence inspiring!

Don't be surprised if the 'door monster' rears its ugly head again...it can happen (and does for a lot of people). But it may not, and definitely gets better over time.

If it DOES mess with you, just remember that once you're outside in the breeze, it's all good from there.

And of COURSE it's confidence-inspiring. You've faced fear head-on and told it to go f*ck itself. If that isn't deserving of confidence, I don't know what is. ;)

Have a great jump! :)

Thanks! I would actually be surprised if it DIDN't show up again. When I think about it, I'm still nervous, but not the "dangling-cat-over-water" panic!

You know...its funny.. kinda similar for me... but I remind myself that "I AM going to get out of the plane"... you're NOT riding back down (of course within reason! saftey is ALWAYS the priority!) And once I get out of the plane...I'm good to go. My heart races again during PC deployment and waiting for main to inflate.. but... wooooo hooooooooooooo! well worth the amount of fear and/or anxiety that I might have. You'll be fine! Rely on your training.. trust your gear. Have a blast... Although takes a little more time for us "older jumpers" ( dont come down hard on me!!!) to get warmed up.. but when we get there..... WATCH OUT!! blue ones!
If flying is piloting a plane.. then swimming is driving a boat. I know why birds sing.. I skydive.

Hey Doug,

I couldn't wait for my next jump either! RELAX and enjoy every moment of it!

You'll find Sky Knights to be a great place to hang out, jump and learn. The entire staff was outstanding during my recent tandem progression.

I'm sure we'll run into each other some time soon

Later,

Max

For me, what always gets me is seeing the people ahead of me jump. One second they're there...then they're gone and it almost seems surreal. I mean, I know that the purpose of being up there is to do just that, but it always just seems crazy to me. I'm a noob too though.

One year older than I was when I got back in the sky 20 years after jumping in the military. Good luck, and go for it! You don't quit skydiving because you are old ... you get old because you quit skydiving!
