SkyPainter 0 #1 November 2, 2008 Just got my Skydivers Over Sixty membership kit in the mail! I think this is pretty cool! Will be putting the sticker on the SUV in the morning, as I head out to the local dropzone for at least one AFF jump, and hopefully more! Waiting for the POPS kit to come in, too :) I am also glad that the membership and other monies support the US Parachute Teams. So, here is my first post with some actual initials with a skydiving meaning after it! :) :)Live deliberately; Dare greatly; Land gently SkyPainter SOS 1304, POPS 10695, DS
EDYDO 0 #2 November 2, 2008 Welcome to the group. In no time at all, you will be off student status and joining us on the SOS World record jumps. I have fun everywhere I go, but there is no experience like jumping with these guys who are the pioneers of our sport. Ed Dixon SOS
SkyPainter 0 #3 November 3, 2008 Thanks, Ed! Some people think taking this sport up at age 61 is the decision of a crazy person. They are right! Crazy about living; crazy about the experience, and crazy about the people I have met so far in this endeavor! Was very cold today at the DZ .... very cold at altitude, but got a slot and jumped my AFF C-2 - with some 90 degree turns tossed-in for good measure! Awesome jump, great ride, and smooth landing. Crazy ....yep! That's ME! awagnon 0 #9 November 4, 2008 Hey, SkyPainter I'm 61 and just starting. Unforunately, operations are grinding to a halt for the winter here. In my case, I've wanted to skydive since I was 18, but age and then family and job responsibilities made it crazy for me to jump. Now that I'm an old, retired fart without any responsibilities, it's no longer crazy. I'm in the process of joining POPS and SOS and I hope to take a long vacation in Arizona this winter to continue my training.Alton "Luck favors the prepared." SkyPainter 0 #10 November 4, 2008 Hi Al! Welcome to the Skies! I also may make it out to Arizona this winter for a week or so to keep jumping, stay current, have some fun, and learn some more. Maybe we can jump together someday! I look forward to hitting a POPS or SOS Boogie, too! Blue Skies, and Safe Landings Always! BTW: There is no bad weather, only bad clothing! Jump!
