DSE 5 #26 November 23, 2008 Quote you're condoning this trend? YOU may listen to music genre that enhances concentration but I hardly think the many others do. I have a habit of hooting and hollering (whew whoo's) under canopy. especially when There is another canopy in proximity. It's my way of being sure the other pilots knows I'm there. And if you hooted and hollered at me, I'd hear you. Apparently you missed the intended humor in the prior post? No, I do not condone wearing an iPod. I'm also not willing to accept the knee-jerk condemnation, either. I've qualified my position by saying that anyone with fewer than 500 jumps shouldn't consider a PLD on a wingsuit jump in my 'unintelligent' opinion. And most importantly, I have the right equipment. Not everyone does. A lot of folks don't even know what the right equipment is. Curious, I often see skydivers with foam earplugs, which have a tremendously greater impact on audible comprehension than does a proper earphone. But no one has ever condemned them? We also know that there are skydivers who have collided with others (including aircraft) while unclipping wings, turning off cameras, stowing sliders, removing booties, geeking cameras, hook turning, misreading the pattern, etc. I'd submit these people are far more dangerous than people listening to PLD's. Statistics are overwhelmingly on my side of that particular point. if using an iPod makes me "unintelligent".... Shiny object, gotta run...

If so, color me surprised.SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
