riggerrob 643 #26 January 7, 2009 If USPA adopts a common standard for WSI, ... the issue of different types of suits and new types of suits should be addressed during annual refresher training sessions. If they are not familiar with a particular suit, ethical WSI say: "Sorry, but I am not familiar with that suit, maybe you should talk to ......." If a WSI misses annual refresher training two years in a row, he should lose his rating.

But will you still go around reminding everybody it all started with Bird-Man? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The Standard of training that we currently have, Which is Based upon all the manufactures training advice, practices, and ideals IMHO is woefully inadiquate. They have worked well to this point but that doesnt mean it couldnt be much better. Matt is Right that is has to be non denominational, but it must be very different than it ever has been... The people that are coming into this sport and starting our dicipline at such low experience levels, is a problem. Most newer jumpers are of a different generation, with different levels of understanding reality, risk vs. reward, and responsibility than generations of the past. The target group around which those training tools were based upon have changed. when those were written most people at 500 jumps wouldnt try a wingsuit. this along with fundamental flaws with how some of these training aides are implimented, given newer human factors issues, must be addressed. I dont have anything more to say on this matter at this time, nor am I trying to piss in anyone's wheaties.. Im simply stating that times change and so do training practices, Methods and programs. Human factors, and our societies degredation of responsibility is a large part of the reason changes should be made. let us not dwell on our accomplishments of the past, but focus on our community coming together, and to our accomplishments together in the future.
