Tuna-Salad 0 #26 January 10, 2009 I still shake after landing It's funny to see the whuffo tandem faces when the door opens @ 1k cuz they think its already time. Millions of my potential children died on your daughters' face last night.

dandandan 0 #29 January 10, 2009 It takes a lot to exit, we are a relatively small group of people. Its normal to be nervous. especially when you are switching gear all the time. on my first jump on my rig, i had INTENSE gear fear. when it came time to pull everything that was going through my head in the plane came right back. But in the end, it's all about confidence in yourself, and the ability to rely on your gear.I'd wait for you outside the courtoom. Taunting; when all of your appeals were declined. auburnguy 0 #30 January 10, 2009 Get over it and get out of the plane. You're holding up the rest of the load!"If you don't like your job, you don't strike! Andy9o8 2 #31 January 10, 2009 QuoteFear vs. nerves? Same damn thing. Who cares what it's called? QuoteNot sure whether it's just my fear of heights (yes I am somewhat afraid of heights) or is it nervousness because of what I am about to do? It's your lizard brain's fear of death. Quotehow do I conquer the nerves/fear short term? When I was a student, I used to arrive at the DZ, sneak off behind a hangar, and barf. Then I'd be good to go for the rest of the weekend. Try it! LaRusic 0 #32 January 11, 2009 this is why in a 182 i like getting out low and doing something funny out the door and look back up at the plane to see them watching me The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver #
sanes7 0 #33 January 12, 2009 It's probably a combination of both. It will get better with time, by better I mean more controllable. I have a little less than 200 jumps and I still get that feeling at times. It helps me maintain a healthy respect for what I am doing. The way I deal with it is to check my handles and repeat my emergency procedures. Blue Skies! MikeMike Sanes
NotBond 0 #34 January 13, 2009 My first tandem I was stupendously terrified. Not screaming or anything, more paralyzed. Second was much better as I had to focus on tasks. Having to wait over the winter, the "pre-fear" is coming back - my heart starts to race when I watch diving vids that have a real "first person" view - but just the exit part. The rest just gives me an adrenaline surge, but not a fear feeling.Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyways... - John Wayne
