how to increase level of safety...

Recommended Posts

Hi pops,
SAT, time flys when yer hanin' fun. I guess that was back in the old 7-TU daze!! 'Havn't been involved in the JM/I thing in a few years. A bud of mine went thru AFF 2 years ago and I did some "post-pablum course" dives with him and was amazed at how the regs have changed since I was an AFF-I in the 80's!!

SIM,G,2, Students and A lic 3000'
3, B lic 2500'
4, C & D lic 2000'

So they kick the Stus. and A's up 500', most won't pull below 5K anyway!! My friend would dump at 5.5K because he felt "Safer!!" Oh well?

What would be a good example of a conservative canopy???

A good example of a conservative canopy, once off student status, would be a Navigator, not smaller than 170, not loaded over 1.0 lbs/sqft.

There would be other possible examples, and safety is never an absolute (and there is no absolute safety in this sport); your perception may very well be different.

There are also a thousand other things you can do to increase your (perceived level of) safety. You may very well be focussing too much on the one question you know to ask; there are thousands you don't know to ask yet. A good instructor is invaluable.
Johan.
I am. I think.
