blueskiesbill 0 #1 March 24, 2009 unfortunately I do not have my parachutist on hand at this moment but the other day while sitting on the throne i was purusing the march issue (which i have gone over three times cover to cover and couldnt even count the amount of times i have seen the pictures!!) and i came across the tropical pictorial section it is a two page spread and on the left side there is a 10? 12? 16? way hybrid and if you pay attention to the feet of the gentlemen on the left wearing white and black he is wearing flip flops when i saw this i let out a wild laugh and then thought how is that possible.... so i ask all of you out there --- have you ever made a flip flop jump...if so was it successful? or have you known someone to make a jump with flip flops .... all i can think of is freeflying with this guy ... coming in to dock from above and then off comes a sandal and smacks me square in the nose ... *** be a great thing to catch on video!!! blue skies!!! the condemned convict climbs the highest peaks without fear Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

diablopilot 2 #3 March 24, 2009 Yes I have. You'd better have a pretty nice landing area, and good landing skills though. I've either put my flip flops in my jumpsuit until the canopy was open, or I've taken a rubber band, larks headed it to the flip flop strap and then put it over my big toe. I pretty much stopped doing it and barefoot jumps for the most part when I started jumping high performance canopies. wmw999 2,584 #6 March 24, 2009 I probably have a couple hundred flipflop jumps, but under different type canopies than are jumped today, so landings never, ever had to be run out. I didn't like the larks-head to the flipflop technique (that lump between the toes, ya know), so I just put a rubber band around my big toe and second toe, trapping the shoe. Worked fine. councilman24 37 #8 March 24, 2009 My jump shoes of choice are Alps sandals (sadly discontinued but I have a new, spare pair in the closet0. The had straps around the ankles so no danger of falling off but I have more jumps in them than anything else. Also some flip flop jumps but preferred not having anything between my toes. NickD I think livendive still does... (wear socks with Tevas that is...) I don't know whether he still wears them while skydiving... I have worn Tevas and I have even jumped barefoot... but those jumps were on days when I knew I was 99% sure I would land in the beautiful grass landing area and could stop my canopy (because of good winds) I don't however generally like to do it on the off chance that I will be forced to land off field... in somewhere other then the beautiful sod farm we have to land in... Our landing area is a Sod farm...oh yeah, nice plush green gold for 250 acres...just don't try the barefoot/flip flop during the harvest season...nothing but ground up dead plants...lots of sticks. haha. In the summer time I am an Avid flipflop and barefoot jumper b/c my DZ has the best field for it....it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! Roger Ponce, who always jumps barefoot regardless of the weather had on a pair to Tevas as we went through security at the site prior to jumping...understandable because of the amount of walking we had to do as well as the frost on the ground. I couldn't help but bust out laughing when the security guard noticed Roger's footwear and exclaimed..."I hope you don't plan on jumping with those on!"
