neck support

I think you will loose some style points. Honestly, if your neck is busted to the point of needing one, you probably shouldn't be jumping. You need to keep your head moving and looking around especially after the break off and under canopy. And what if you had a really hard opening, and hurt your neck more? I suppose if you are willing to risk it, go ahead, but maybe hop and pops are the best way not to risk others, not to mention the soft openings.

back in the day when i was jumping a really heavy( by today's standards) 8mm video setup. I used to wear one quite a bit. it's foam so i had no problem looking around. i did take it off under canopy
i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am .

That type of collar is meant to limit mobility, but won't provide much protection in a hard opening or similar event. Most are much softer/flimsier than their advertised descriptions - so fairly comfortable (for wearing all day), but not very effective for anything but reminding the wearer to limit movement. There are other devices more appropriate for protection from hard openings, that won't restrict normal movement as much. (Some are made for motocross racers, football players, etc.)

Yes, please tell me where I can get these.
I had 3 hard openings this weekend and my neck is killing me today. I have been thinking of getting some sort of brace to help me with these openings. When I wear a camera, I am always afraid it will be a rough one, luckily I haven't had a hard opening while wearing one... I don't know why, but my canopy hated me this weekend.

Dan Brodsky wore one of those for a while, after he broke his neck in plane crash. The Doctors told him he should never jump again. He said his neck hurts every day, but he still jumps.

I had a hard openning canopy for a while. I learned a better way to pack it, and the opennings usually aren't too awful. I think my neck is still messed up because of that.

My chiropractor says the vertebra are wearing out. Maybe that is part of being an old fart. Maybe I should quit jumping. I'm not ready to give it up yet....

Ditto-I could opt for the operation but I'm not willing to take that step yet. I'm willing to accept a certain amount of pain but not as much as I was in the last time I jumped. Really, I just want to go out more on my terms.
