No such book exists. Most books focus at most on one of several topics, but no book, to my knowledge, has "everything you need to know" in it.

At the student level, the best book you can read really is the USPA Skydiver's Information Manual, especially Section 2, because that is the information that will hopefully be used on every skydive you ever make.

Try "The Skydiver's Handbook" by Dan Poynter and Mike Turoff.
I think it's got a lot of useful info.Some info more then another but In my thoughts it's a good read

You should consult with this one columnist from The Onion. I believe his column is Ask A Coffin Salesman. Very good advice on all topics.

I agree with Bry, Poynter's book was very good as was the SIM. Also, there are a number of very good articles in the "Safety" section of dropzone.com. Click just to the right of "Forums". Some good stuff there, and like the SIM, free.
