skydiverbry 0 #2 May 22, 2009 As far as your legs go try toe taps.Being aware of my arms where never a problem for me but I too had an awareness issue with my legs.Your instructors will be able to give you better tips when they see body position in freefall-------------------------------------------------- Growing old is mandatory.Growing up is optional!! brettski74 0 #3 May 22, 2009 Most people have an awareness problem with their legs, particularly when they're new. You're best bet right now is to listen to your instructors. You're on a steep learning curve right now with lots of things to learn. Let them prioritize what is most important to focus on each jump. You'll get there. steve1 5 #4 May 22, 2009 Make some more jumps and you will definitely be more aware of what's going on. It's an emotional overload at first. Things will slow down as you become more experienced. Hopefully you aren't spinning. This is a big problem for some people....
skybytch 273 #5 May 22, 2009 Practice the correct body position on the ground. Over and over and over. Concentrate on feeling where your arms and legs are and what they are doing. The more time you can put into this on the ground, where you don't have the distractions of freefall, the happier you will be with your performance in the air. A visit to a wind tunnel is another option, but ground practice is free. A longer term option to gaining body awareness would be to take up yoga. d123 4 #6 May 22, 2009 I can relate to your problem. Are you having ADD/Hyperactivity? If not then its probably no biggie. I'm having a mild ADD (and I'm also hyperactive) and legs awarness is a bigger problem for me than for your average Joe (Jennings). For instance sometimes when I'm in bed on my back with a blanket over the legs I feel my feet inverted (pointing downwards instead of up). It's not something un-curable but it just takes more practice to get the leg awarness. It will help if I'll have a mirror in the tunnel to see my legs. d123 4 #8 May 29, 2009 I can relate! During my AFF I've been unstable ONLY when I was looking at my instructor for signs. One of them got it and give me a "do what you want jump" where he jumps 3 sec after me and dock on to me only if I'm unstable. That jump work perfectly and I've completed my 360's for the 1st time. It meant the world for me! You have to understand/love people/students if you want to be a good instructor/leader!Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
