Gato 0 #2 June 14, 2009 I'm really glad he's going to be ok. Was this reported in the Incidents Forum, Kevin? That said, how do you break 3 suspension "cords" on opening (assuming that's when it happened?) It's amazing that he's referred-to as a "seasoned skydiver" - with a whopping 45 jumps.T.I.N.S. OlympiaStoica 0 #3 June 14, 2009 I was looking to see something about this in the "Incidents" forum as well -- nothings so far. I noticed the 45 jumps = "seasoned skydiver", but have learned that media reports are littered with misrepresentations when it comes to skydiving incidents. Those articles are written by whoffos after all, and they don't bother checking with someone in the sport before putting something in print. O
Dougiefresh 0 #4 June 14, 2009 Spiraled from 500 feet with 3 broken lines? Something doesn't make sense here. Either A. it happened on opening, and the reporter was off by an order of magnitude or B. he isn't reporting (or isn't able to report) the facts of the accident correctly or C. it's standard retard newspaper idiocy. I'd put money on C, with a heavy dose of A, and a dash of B, plus a fair amount of newbie not knowing how to handle a mal.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
JohnDeere 0 #5 June 14, 2009 In the video he said he was spiralling from 4000 ft. He said he thought he could fix the spiral but maybe he should have cut away Nothing opens like a Deere! You ignorant fool! Checks are for workers!

The combination of a hard opening and a very rapid spin may have caused him to lose consciousness, or at least be out of it enough to not understand what was going on.
