Parafoil27 0 #1 June 15, 2009 Is there a channel in the US that shows any skydiving, base jumping or swoop contests ect. on a regular basis? Or is there no need to put it on TV since skydivers actually do something rather than just watch it? EARTH! Short bus of the universe, since the year T+10.3 billion! REV. beowulf 1 #2 June 15, 2009 I love to watch skydiving although most of it is my own footage. I have small collectionof DVD's that I like to watch during the week. I recommend the Remedy video. You can buy it from Paragear or Square One. Skydiving is just not big enough or mainstream enough for there to be a channel that shows any skydiving regularly. Those shows that do show any skydiving are usually just showing carnage video.
topdocker 0 #3 June 15, 2009 Yep, you can watch the National Spelling Bee, the World Championships of Rock/Paper/Scissors, and endless reruns of poker games, but no skydiving on ESPN or other sorts channels. There is plenty of skydiving footage on "I Shouldn't Be Alive" and "Maxiimum Exposure." Of course, you have to listen to some yutz voice over saying , "seconds from death," over and over. top Jump more, post less!
DJL 235 #4 June 15, 2009 The paradox is that skydiving done well doesn't look that complex or interesting to somebody who doesn't skydive. Take swooping, which is considered to be the most Mountain Dew worthy discipline, and to the common viewer, it's just someone rolling out a 80 ft landing with a little toe dipped in the water. VRW just looks like techno dancing, RW like square dancing on your belly, CRW like dirty old men doing gay foreplay (see you at Jumptown?). Now if you want to say it's not fair that only the carnage vid gets aired, just look at what WE will all gather around the TV to see."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
Parafoil27 0 #5 June 15, 2009 All very good points. I guess i'll have to get some videos to watch during the week. Hey if you dudes arent doing anything tonight i was going to make a beer run, call a stripper and order Rock/Paper/Scissors on Pay per view! Then after we get drunk, hold a spelling bee while the stripper dances! EARTH! Short bus of the universe, since the year T+10.3 billion! REV. I am the one wearing the camera, it was only my 3rd jump wearing it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EUE2ZjH02k thats the jump I was refering to"Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation." Parafoil27 0 #9 June 16, 2009 Yeah i definatly understand that point. My instructor and coach are always trying to include me on RW jumps(i do appreciate that!) but i'm lucky if i don't blow the exit LOL. I wanted to show my friends at work why i was spinning around and walking back and fourth in the privacy of the mens room(got busted "playing skydiver" again) so i downloaded a video. They pretty much heckled me for being a dumbass if i can't do that without practice. EARTH! Short bus of the universe, since the year T+10.3 billion! REV.
