mellow 0 #1 June 22, 2009 i was supposed to start aff on thursday, and was so psyched to get up in the air, and finally, after 2 tandems, jump with my own parachute- and now, because of forces beyond my control, i have to WAIT....probably another week...which feels like an eternity. this feeling of being soooo ready, all the butterflies (stomache ache, actually), and coming to the end of a 4 week wait since i had decided to do this, only to find out i have to WAIT some MORE..... deflated....that's how i feel now. ok. i'm done whining. hopefully i'll start the weekend of the 4th.Jennifer don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. and then go do that, because what the world needs is people that come alive. Parafoil27 0 #2 June 22, 2009 I feel your pain totally. I was there not so long ago. Due to some issues with a DZ closing down and a lot of other stuff including the weather it took me a year to get my A. Once i got my A and i found a new place to jump they had no gear to rent. I now have my own gear so now things are alot better although i'm waiting for a reserve pack now. Fortunaly for me one of the awesome guys i jump with let me jump a pilot 188 he had while he jumped another rig. It was really a good jump and i had so much fun it really recharged my passion for the sport. To top it all off the jump ended with a good soft stand up landing. Some weeks are bad but all it takes is one good day to bring it all back to ya. Good Luck on you future jumps! EARTH! Short bus of the universe, since the year T+10.3 billion! REV. Sapphire 0 #4 June 22, 2009 But just think of how amazing it's going to feel when you finally do get to take that step out the door and arch! I know it's hard... but the waiting will be over before you know it - then you're in for one helluva time! I thought that the fetal position was the optimal freefall position. And Jennifer, if you need some way to pass the time, I can help you. It will be almost as good as your skydive, so in a way, I'll be helping prepare you for your experience in a week. I'm easy, just not cheap.

You needn't worry about the butterflies - trust me, they will return. This might actually be a very good thing. In the coming week, you might learn something you can use on your next jump (from your instructors, or The Skydiver's Handbook - get a copy if you don't have one already.) Remember to tell your instructors how much you learned on DZ.com - they LOVE that. Really. You're going to have a blast!T.I.N.S.
Sapphire 0 #11 June 24, 2009 Quote Wait...you're suppose to arch? I thought that the fetal position was the optimal freefall position. LOL! I tried it once for shits n giggles - tis not optimal, but good for making you go "WTF am I doing?!" ... feels good to know you can correct it immediately though without prompting from your instructors!
