Drop Zone Question

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I'm a first time jumper living in Chicago, and I'm looking for some feedback on good jump schools in my area. I was looking at Chicagoland Skydiving Center specifically and would appreciate any experiences that people may have dealing with them. Likewise, any other imformation that I should know as a first time jumper would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hey Mike,

Along with getting input on the forum here I'd suggest checking the DZ reviews on this site, calling the DZs close to you with any questions you have, and then visiting a few and watching the folks out there in person.

All the Chicago area DZs are probably great. Go find one that gives you a good feeling and positive vibe kinda thing.

I'm going through AFF at CSC currently, and I definitely recommend it.. It's just an all around awesome DZ; the staff, people, facilities, aircraft, etc..

I also recommend buying the AFF in packages, if not the full 25 jumps, atleast the 7 jump package. You'll save alot of money

You might also want to check out Skydive Midwest. It is on the IL/WI boarder along I-94 with nice views of the lake and Chicago and Milwaukee at altitude! They are a fun group of people and excellent instructors.

My first two tandems were done at CSC. My third tandem, and now AFP are at SDC. They're both excellent dropzones with awesome people.

For me, it came down to which program I thought would work best for me, AFF or AFP. My advice is to look to the future and decide which program looks best to you, in case you want to pursue this sport. Then do your first tandem where they teach that program.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the information, I decided to go with CSC and had my first jump this past Saturday. It was an awesome experience, its hard to find the words to describe the combination of feelings and the initial shock of jumping out of a plane. After 5 seconds though I was having a blast. Im glad I decided to jump from 18000 feet so that I could have 90 seconds of free fall. Again, thanks everyone
