TIETZE 0 #26 May 28, 2005 I used to believe that my main parachute took 500 or 700 to open. After I bought a digital altimeter it became clear that it took 800 to 1100 feet from releasing the p/c until the slider was down. Zep 0 #27 May 28, 2005 When I used to jump a F111 (Maveric, Fury an cruislite) I had no qualms about pulling at 2000 or 1800ft any body remember "Tee at three" A hop an pop from cloud base at 1600ft no big deal, hell we even launched exits from that hight I had 99.9% faith in those canopies, open in 400ft max, an a high speed mal wasent so high speed. When I started jumping ZP's (Blue track) I very quickly learnt to start pulling higher, result of a brake fire. Lets just say, by the time I'd got the other toggle released an I'd been wearing an AAD it would of fired Now I nearly always pull at 3000ft or a bit higher an "Tee at three" is a thing of the past. You might want to consider getting a new parachute or fixing the one you have. That's an excessive amount of time, and it could get you into trouble (i.e. cypres firing or worse.)
