Skydiving age limits?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry but that's a ridiculous question. In North Carolina, where you stated you reside, mere possession of a fake id is an arrestable offense. Possession or manufacturing a fake ID in NC is a class 1 misdemeanor which carries with it a presumptive sentence of up to 100 hours of community service and/or a $1000 fine. You could be arrested and, if convicted, may have a difficult time getting into a college of choice. The DMV will also revoke your driver's license upon conviction of possessing or manufacturing a false id and you will be ineligible to get an emergency restricted license to drive to and from work.

Selling said fake documentation is a felony in NC by the way.

Finishing your post with "haha thanks for the help :D" doesn't actually cause anyone to dismiss the question as having been in jest by the way. You seriously need to assess your priorities. Good luck to you.[:/]

The one in Tn is 600 miles from my house, and I would really rather do the tandem. How strict are these people, like if i made a "novelty" i.d. (witch probably wouldn't be a good one) you think I would get by with that?

haha thanks for the help :D

The tandem manufacturers specifically prohibit taking passengers under 18 (I think all of them, somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Failure to abide by these policies can cost the TI his rating. There aren't too many that will take that risk.

You need to sign a waiver before you jump. There is some debate as to whether or not a parent can sign away the rights of a minor child. (they can give permission, but not waive the right to sue).
Andy seems to think not, there was a Florida case that said not, and the lawyer that wrote the waiver at my DZ said not.

Some DZs are very strict about checking IDs, some less so. But if you went in with one of the "pretend" IDs you can get, you stand a pretty decent chance of getting it torn up in your face, getting thrown out and told not to come back, and finding out that the owner called all the other DZs in the area to warn them about you. Not to mention the legal issues if the owner called the cops.

However, his post does nicely illustrate a practical reason (legalities aside) for having age minimums for certain activities, like driving or skydiving: maturity and judgment.
