AStack75 4 #1 August 17, 2010 All of my jumps so far have been at my home DZ. Going on vacation in a month and plan on jumping during my trip. Being my first jump away from my home DZ, I believe I owe beer to the DZ I am visiting. Correct? Also, do I owe beer the first time I visit any new DZs or just the very first one that I visit? Dutton 0 #6 August 17, 2010 Yes. You owe me beer too, just for asking if you owe beer.
Bertt 0 #7 August 17, 2010 The beer rules are long and complicated. Commit the following phrase to memory and you can't go wrong: "I don't know if I owe beer, but your friendship means so much to me that I have brought you beer." You don't even have to say it with a straight face as long as you bring beer. You don't have to outrun the bear.
darkwing 5 #8 August 17, 2010 I'm going to go against the grain here and say less beer, more jumping. The beer thing is a bit out if hand. If you ever ask beer drinkers anywhere if you owe them beer the answer will always be yes. Just jump. Be nice. Take crap when they dish it out. Dish crap out to them. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
DanG 1 #9 August 17, 2010 You ask, you owe. It's that simple.Skydiving's not just about jumping. Over the years I've probably had more fun after hours at the DZ that during daylight. When you look at it realistically, skydiving is just a hobby, it doesn't define who you are as a person. That's defined by your friendships and how you treat other people. Buy your beer, and buy it proudly. - Dan G

Being my first jump away from my home DZ, I believe I owe beer to the DZ I am visiting. Correct? Actually that will be 2 cases of beer you'll owe. One for your first jump away from your home DZ and another one for your first jump at that DZ. Quote Also, do I owe beer the first time I visit any new DZs or just the very first one that I visit? Yes. That will be one case of beer owed for your first jump at a new DZ. Beware of a some of the "fine print" to the Beer Rules that some DZs impose.... "If a jumper accumulates 3 cases of beer owed, an additional penalty case will be imposed." and Some DZs will honor a "beer exempt" clause if one has over a certain # of jumps, typically 3000. Sometimes this applies everywhere, sometimes this applies only at one's home DZ. Good luck. Oh, and since you asked... you owe .
ZigZagMarquis 9 #13 August 18, 2010 Quote If more than one first is accomplished on a single jump, only one case of beer is required. BULLSHIT!
Glitch 0 #14 August 18, 2010 In addition to all that, it would only be fair to mention that the offender isn't without rights and priveledges. IF the offender disagrees with owing beer or not, he / she does indeed have the right to appeal to the local S&TA and/or DZO. The offender has the right, and should be given every opportunity to justify why they don't owe for the infraction or justify why the penalty should not be invoked. Upon careful examination of all the evidence presented in the appeal, the S&TA and/or DZO is honor and duty bound to carefully examine and consider all sides of the issue, and only after due diligence and consideration will the S&TA / DZO summarily rule against the offender for the infraction. In addition, since the offender issued an appeal, and additional penalty case will be owed in conjunction with the original penalty or penalties. At this time, it should be noted that the penalty case shall not be excluded from the 3 case rule... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...
