wolfriverjoe 1,523 #26 September 7, 2010 Quote I still believe an Immelmann should be mandatory...it gives you a 360 view and all 3 dimensions. ~just don't stall out in free-fall! You'd need a wingsuit to do a decent Immelman. And THIS is one of the better arguments for barrel rolls during breakoff. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Calvin19 0 #31 September 7, 2010 that is cute. None of these muppets could do a clean Split S even if they had the equipment. A barrel roll is a great tool to clear airspace. but not really necessary in all situations. I do one on maybe 1% of my jumps (for the purpose of clearing airspace) they are fun to scare people with doing it low in a wingsuit on a BASE jump. -SPACE-
normiss 892 #32 September 7, 2010 Back flying in a wingsuit when terrain surfing a mountain on a base jump is cool too.
Dutton 0 #33 September 7, 2010 Just pull below 3,000' and you won't have to barrel roll. There's nobody down there anymore.
danielcroft 2 #34 September 7, 2010 Back tracking I obviously need to get back belly to earth. On sit jumps I break off in a back track so same applies. Otherwise, unless I'm instructed to by the person leading a tracking jump to barrel roll before pulling I don't do it.

The nice thing about the barrel roll supporters is that they've been doing it safely. They haven't done a RW jump with more than 3 others. It's like arguing terminal velocity with whuffos.
