Mike111 0 #2 August 3, 2005 Hey, I wouldn't normally post anything with regard to instruction (only a student so can't offer any good advice!) but i had the same problem (only last week)which you are fearing - being nervous. My instructor told me to RELAX - it improves performance 100%. If you are all tensed, you won't enjoy it (and enjoyment is the key thing as well as safety) and won't get the most out of your skydive. Deep breathing and smiling is a very good way of alleviating nerves - but hey if its any help, i guess everyone is nervous at the start, so your not the only one! 8if that offers any consolationOr you could do a search of the Forums, theres bound to be something there about your questions. Also i found out it is better to take it one step at a time - don't worry about level 4 untill you have done level 3 - or it could beocme overwhelming, when in reality it will pose no problems. I can't offer any practical advice on landing cos im only a student, all i could say is that if you ever are unsure about something, ask your instructor always- better to be safe than sorry!best of luck, hope it all goes well!!Mike

Danny US Coast Guard Don't be nervous. I am not sure what I am about to say will make any difference. I was told what I am going to tell you now. When people told me here really didn't make sense to me then. I kept thinking they don't know me. They don't understand what I am going through. Most of it, Its my my money that I am loosing repeating levels, not theirs, so how can they understand me. Any this is what I was told by many many people here which really did not make any sense to me then. But it makes a lot of sense now. They were all so right. You don't FAIL Levels. There is something to learn in every jump. If you have the repeat level, that does not mean you failed as long as you walked out of it after the jump. The only thing that should bother you is the money part which is really understandable. I am going through the same thing and repeating so many levels. Read all my posts if you get a chance. As long as the frustrations that may come up due to the expenses involved in repeating levels, this is my suggestion. Set up a budget on how much you want to spend per month for the sport that you love. Only do that many jumps and let it take as long as it has to take to finish your AFF. Don't be in a rush to complete AFF. Thats the biggest mistake I made. Now finally taking it slow. I hope any of this helps you. Jigs

Danny, try to go in imagining success rather than failure. Visualize the perfect dive flow, know your steps, and be prepared to have a perfect jump. May not happen, but it's the right frame of mind. Dread causes tension, and that hurts the nice stable arch.
