Cut-away cable housing - my experience

Recommended Posts

I had my first cut away yesterday - was doing a solo wingsuit jump on a gti suit + 150sq eliptical hurricane canopy on jump 350. I ended up with very bad line twists and a flat spinning canopy. I reached for my handles and couldnt cut away with one hand, I had to use BOTH my hands to finally get the cut away cable free. The reason why i struggeled so much to cut away was due to the extra pressure on the actual cut away cable, I strongly advise people to check and correct that they have a hard housing for the cut away cable. That would assure that you have a nice and easy cut away at the right time ... believe me thats worth a lot...

Are you saying that you had the fabric channels rather than the hard cable housing?

If so, I guess that ounce of weight you saved just wasn't worth it.

What John Rich was getting at is, do you mean the metal inserts in the risers, or the housings that route the cable within the harness - from handle to riser?

Some rigs a while back did not use metal housings within the harness, with bad problems resulting. My guess is that you mean the housings in the risers.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
