larrypen 0 #1 November 29, 2011 Anyone knowing how to get hold of Billy Vance please ask him to PM me I have a deaf person who has done several tandems and very much wants to start AFF and I just want to talk to someone that may have some insight. He holds a private pilotl license with200 hours and a masters degree. I have only trained one other deaf person in 25 years and just want them to have the best I can offer. Thank you for your time Larry Pennington Skydive Suffolk Inc

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #10 November 29, 2011 Quote Text sent. I left him a voice mail but never heard back. Thanks for the morning laugh! For the original poster: Another skydiver who would be helpful for advice is a guy named Mark Rejhon. I know Mark from the bigway community, and he is also quite active on here. His DZ.com name is mdrejhon. Good luck to the new AFF candidate!
CSpenceFLY 1 #11 November 29, 2011 My favorite Billy story is when he landed off in Fitzgerald, someone thought he was still missing and told the airport manager where they thought he was. So this guy is walking around in the wood yelling for Billy. Couldn't figure out why everyone thought that was so funny.

I worked the risers for the best glide and just barely cleared the lake on the DZ side next to the woods and walked back. What I forgot to do was check in at manifest. BillyVance 34 #16 November 30, 2011 The best Billy story would probably have to be the jump where I had a two-out at West Tennessee when I had 50 jumps. I weighed 150 without gear and ended up with a 235 main and 218 reserve over my head in a side-by-side due to a FXC-12000 AAD fire. Fast Eddie was at the DZ and I don't think he'd met me before that day because while I was hanging up there trying to figure out where I wanted to land and how I was gonna get there without going into a downplane... He got on the P.A. system and started yelling "cut it away! Cut it away!" One of my friends, Steve Crawford ran up to him and said "he can't hear you, he's deaf!" Eddie was like "oh shit" and started aggressively miming the cutaway motions hoping I would see it.... Oh yeah, I floated across the grass runway and forced Mike Mullins to abort his landing, and he went around. iluvtofly 0 #17 November 30, 2011 My favorite Billy story would have to be the fact that I was lucky enough to witness the moment you and skymama finally met. I still laugh my ass off to this day thinking about that.
