New SOS bigway record

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to all of you! I wish I could have been there, but since I've retired from work, I hardly make any jumps at all any more. Eight people is the biggest skydive I make these days, and not many of those.

I have enjoyed looking at all the skydiving pictures from the event. Again, it's great news! That means the rest of the weekend can just be laid back fun jumps, right?

A very good news story.....I really hope the media pick up on it.

Its an inspiration to all the oldies out there who think life stops at 60, and a lesson for all the punks who think older people are taking up too much space on the planet.

The young generation who lived thru the 50's and 60's continues to impress.

Yeehaaaaaarrr!!.

This morning I had a phone message from old jumping pal, Jay Gile who looks to be in the outer ring, and he said that they had to be in jumpsuits & ready at 7:00 AM this morning, Sat.

Two point 60 way?

Why not, they are all there with nothing else to do since they banged out objective #1.
50 donations so far. Give it a try.

Rookie question...how high did they jump from?

Skydive Elsinore posted this gem on their Facebook page this morning that answers your question:

Overheard by a SOS Participant, wearing a canula for oxygen since they're going up to 18,000 feet for the World Record attempts, with 61 of his closest friends doing the same:
Tandem student to Instructor: do they always make the old people wear oxygen when they're skydiving? SOS IS IN THE HOUSE, SHATTERING RECORDS!

:D

That's fairly typical for a bigway of this size; larger jumps will often exit at a higher altitude.

Good one. I wonder if the tandem rider had a picture in their head of their own grandparents, and wondering what all these oldies were made of....

That's not true. Is it, Twardo?

Oldies function better on nitrous oxide.....

Isn't that part of high altitude jump training so you can function at high altitudes...???:)

I've been to 25k without oxygen...was supposed to have it...dumb ass who set it up!!!

I opened a skyvan door by myself@25k...I keep telling myself...it's only nitrous...ha ha...

can't tell the rest of the story...:)

I'll be 60 next year...and hope to be jumping.

GOOD JOB...sorry...thought you gray hairs couldn't hear me...;)
