SEREJumper 1 #1 October 4, 2012 I did a search and didn't come up with anything, I did some more reading up on it, crashing a 727 is pretty cool, but I want to know more about the jumps! Anyone know more specifics/details and how it went. Anyone on DZ.com work on this project? http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/2012/10/01/inside-a-doomed-jetliner-tv-show-stages-727-crash/1606749/ "The plane took off from Mexicali airport with six people aboard. The flight plan resembled a fish hook at speeds up to 184 mph and 6,000 feet in altitude. After about 60 miles, the first officer and flight engineer parachuted out, each in tandem with a jump master. After another 20 miles, Capt. Jim Bob Slocum banked the plane into a slow right turn wide to the north. Slocum and another jump master left the cockpit 8 miles from the crash site, at 4,000 feet in altitude, when Chip Shanle, a former Navy test pilot who works for American Airlines, took over flying by remote control. Shanle then powered down the wing engines to nearly idle and finally, the tail engine to idle, to slam the plane into the desert floor with its wings level."We're not fucking flying airplanes are we, no we're flying a glorified kite with no power and it should be flown like one! - Stratostar

billvon 3,107 #6 October 4, 2012 I think it was Jim-Bob and Scott Smith as the two jumpers, with Jim Wallace and someone else as the TM's.
councilman24 37 #7 October 6, 2012 The FAA and NASA did a similar crash in 1984. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/dryden/news/FactSheets/FS-003-dfrc.html Theirs was completely remote controlled from take off to landing into steel teeth designed to open the wings. Jumps for drama? I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Jumps for drama? That was the film shown to the passengers during the movie Airplane! People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
