kallend 2,219 #51 October 5 Apparently I'm living in a war zone. Funny, my street seems remarkably quiet, as does everywhere I've driven in the city today. Just like it was yesterday, and last week, and last month. Only disturbances I've heard about are in places where a bunch of armed, masked thugs claiming to be federal agents seem to be doing their best to foment trouble. I wonder how a draft dodger knows what a war zone looks like, anyway.

Seems the guy in the frog suit being pepper sprayed caught people’s attention with the insanity of it all.

Hi Nigel, From the local news, the thuggery is by the feds; not the civilian protesters. Guess they had their MAGA cereal this morning. Jerry Baumchen I should have been clearer, they made it clear it was the authorities cracking down on peaceful protestors.

On the bright side it was funny seeing Knoem walking like she had a carrot up her arse when denied the toilet. I honestly wonder if republicans get their ideas from movies. The parallels between Don and Sascha Cohen’s Dictator are not even funny anymore.

Hi John, Here you go: Portland City Council member Angelita Morillo made waves Thursday with her brief but punchy news appearance — even prompting the CNN anchor interviewing her to momentarily shed his neutral on-air persona with a laugh. Her remarks were in response to a slew of claims by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who during a Wednesday “antifa roundtable” accused Portland officials of covering up terrorism happening in Portland. “You know, I never thought that renowned puppy killer Kristi Noem would be so afraid of protesters wearing frog costumes and chicken costumes,” Morillo began, “but here we are.” The comment was bold enough to elicit an unexpected chuckle from the CNN anchor, who smiled before returning to his furrowed-brow expression. In her 2024 book “No Going Back,” Noem detailed how she killed her 1-year-old wirehaired pointer, Cricket, after the young dog proved “untrainable” — resulting in a flurry of backlash and, in Portland, one conveniently-timed puppy protest.
