I thought that but then thought that his protective bubble of sycophantic bullshit peddlers, who all know the penalty for telling Trump what he doesn't want to hear, would likely keep the negative polls separate from his daily feed. Now afterwards........
olofscience 495 #5 May 28 In the Philippines in August 23, 1971, President Ferdinand Marcos suspended habeas corpus. On September 23, 1972, he declared Martial Law and ruled as dictator for the next 21 years Trump's already trying to suspend habeas corpus...so give it a year after that? Perfect for the midterms. One of the strengths (which can also be seen as a weakness) of USA politics is the fact that there is no federally controlled electoral system. It would be hard for a POTUS to stop or control 50 independent state systems like Marcos, or Putin.

The US platforms are taking every bit as much info and selling it on for consumption. There’s a fair amount of evidence that the US government is consuming that data. I’m conflicted over keeping a FB account and don’t have Ticktok. In Australia FB are in the process of requiring government ID to maintain your account, due to recent legislation changes. I’ve had identity theft before and I don’t just hand out my ID. The problem is that I’ve got FB friends and relatives around the world where I’m interested in their major life events that they post, but it’s not like we phone or text each other.

That’s the only reason I have FB too. I nearly always regret doom scrolling, it only ever makes me think worse of people. Eventually fewer and fewer people will post there, too, as it’s taken over by commercial and generated content, and it’ll get to be a medium for 6 old farts to discuss stuff Wendy P.

I think that was kinda my point… that said, the one thing FB does well is provide a format and a means to share something quickly and easily with someone you want to. As in jokes with my friend M (who curates and posts a lot of jokes in marginal taste — that’s what I love about her), and quips and comments to my friend L (now passed, but we were sharing within days of her unexpected death). And that’s a good thing. It can be done with email or snail mail or the phone, but FH removes one level of complication; that of remembering which is now the correct email address, or buying a stamp and actually putting pen to paper Wendy P. It is somethin physical you can hold on to and don't need some electronic device to read. I have a collection of letters that my uncle wrote to my grandmother during world war II. I have erased most of the emails that I have received.

I can't even get thank you notes from the next generations - unless I text them to verify they actually received the card/gift. Then it's IF they respond. FB for me has become mostly endlessly watching "reels". Which of course is their version of Tic Toc. And the algo gives me lots of skydiving, music, aircraft and trucking stuff. Along with some physics. Because it knows what I have clicked on. Edited August 19 by gowlerk

Tic Toc still faces a federal sell‑or‑ban law that required ByteDance to divest U.S. operations or see the app banned, a measure enacted by Congress and signed into last year. Which doesn't mean much for Trump. But since there is something in it for himself. Great news: The WH has opened a Tic Toc account. So much for national security, the law and the will of congress. But at least Trump can expand the base in a compromised security medium.

Good to see them focusing their efforts on the major crime issues there. At the speeds people can travel in the congestion there, it is critical they enforce the seatbelt law. We need to mobilize the Special Forces when the crime reaches the epic levels of JAYWALKING! Somebody must have made Goebbels aware.
